Ashish pulls back from the hug. “Hey Naina!” Alara hears him say. “Oh! She’s the one. The reason why we couldn’t eat ice cream yesterday” she takes a step back looking at them smiling widely at each other. Alara walks away and waits for him near the college gate where Ashish told her to wait. Five minutes later, Ashish comes back.
“Hey 2052! Sorry”
“Yeah whatever”
“Alara!” he says sounding as soft as he could. “I tried to hurry back but I met a friend. We were catching up so I got late” he says. Alara nods sighing.
“Let’s go now” he says.
“Yes! Let’s go. Vicky is waiting. He called me since you didn’t lift the call” she says. They both reach home. “Hey crazy! Vicky says. “What took you so long?” he asks. “Well, Ashish was busy talking to his friend and that’s why we’re late. Let’s get to cooking Vicky. I’m hungry”. Alara says side-eyeing Ashish.
Ashish sighs. “I’m going to freshen up. You do what you want” he says. Vicky looks at him confused by the annoyed tone of Ashish, he turns to Alara raising his eyebrows, signalling a “What happened?”. “Do the cooking I mean” he says and walks to his room. Vicky looks at Alara questioningly. She shrugs. “What’s wrong with her? Being all sudden grumpy PMS maybe? Or is she just angry because I came back late?” he thinks.
They have their meals and have some regular talks for some time. Around 7:00 pm, Alara gets up from the bean couch “I’ll leave now” she says. “Sure! Mama, drop her home” Vicky says. Ashish nods and stands up and grabs his keys from the beside table. “No, I’ll go by myself. Bye Vicky” she says smiling. “And yeah, bye Ashish” she says in a serious tone. Alara leaves the house. “Mama! What’s going on? Did you two fight or something? She’s behaving so odd” Vicky says. “I don’t know either,what made her like that” he says. “Whatever! First go and drop her home” Vicky says spanking Ashish on his head from the back. “Oh! Okay!” he says running out of the house. He gets on the road and sees Alara who’s about 2-3 houses away from him. “Hey you! Alara” he yells. She turns around and he runs to her. “Wait a minute! I’ll drop you please” he says. “No, it’s okay. I’ll leave” she says slowly.
