ROOK

We left Vegas the following day.

After consummating our marriage, I left Phoenix to sleep while I went in search for Lucas. Seems he could remember most of our wedding, so he filled in the many blanks. It would seem we told him about our ruse of a relationship and Phoenix joked how great it would be to one up Wayne and get married. My drunk ass agreed so Lucas pointed to a wedding chapel down the street. We filled out the paperwork, picked out rings and bam, we were married in less than 15 minutes. Of course, Lucas took some pictures that he sent to my phone. Once I showed them to Phoenix, it made our marriage more real.

The jet ride was quiet and non-eventful. We left Lucas in Vegas, but he promised to stop by New York soon.

Now we're at the penthouse. She went straight to her room while I took a shower in mine. We need to have a conversation on how to pursue our marriage. I can't understand why I'm not upset about it. Me, Rook Raines, married. Married to a super-hot, sexy, smart woman. Nope, not upset at all. I stare at myself in the mirror. Now I need to tell my family. How will they take it? Bishop might be on my side but dad. I let my head hang. He'll be super disappointed and give me a lecture on my impulsiveness. Better to do this without Phoenix there. Can't promise this won't get ugly. I need to protect her from it. Look at me, taking other's feelings into consideration. Not others. Phoenix. My wife. I stare at myself in the mirror wearing a shit eating grin on my face. Ok, I need to stop stalling. Time to get dressed and face the music.

Once I get dressed, I walk down the hallway to Phoenix's room. I knock lightly.

"Hey," she says with a smile. She's wearing yoga shorts and a pink crop top. Delicious.  Of course I eye fuck her for a minute. She's my wife now, so I can and I will.

Head in the game, Raines. Keep your dick in your pants.

Maybe I can fuck her if it's quick. Who am I kidding? I don't think I can have a quickie with her. I shake my head to clear my dirty mind. "I'm going to tell my family about us."

She shifts from one foot to the other. "Oh, do you want me to come?"

She makes teasing her too easy. "Oh you'll come later," I say with a smirk as her face turns a cute shade of pink. After some of the things we've done in bed, I can still make her blush. I can't wait to tie her to my bed and have my way with her.

Later. Can't visit my family with a hard on.

"I'll go solo this time. We can do a formal introduction later this week. Knowing Bishop, she'll want to throw a reception or something after she makes me feel guilty for not inviting her to my wedding when I was at hers."

Her eyes shoot up to mine quickly. "Well it wasn't like we planned this." Her body is tense and defensive.

"Relax, Sunrise. I'm just teasing." Really I'm not. Bishop is going to pitch a fit, but I can deal with her. I cup her chin and lower my head to give her a quick kiss. "I'll be back shortly." I start walking down the hallway but stop when a thought pops in my head. I turn around to face her. "Oh and I want all your stuff in my room when I get back. Can't have my wife sleeping in her own room."

I watch as a grin spreads across her face. She salutes me. "Aye Captain."

I send her a wink as I turn to continue down the stairs when I hear her say. "Or should I say 'yes, sir'." I swear it took all my strength to not turn around and fuck her in the hallway.
