Authors Note:

This is going to be quite a long fic considering it will be taking place throughout all the Harry Potter books. It will be dark and heavy at times and will diverge from canon often due to the MC being my own original character. This means certain characters may seem a little OOC at times. Some canon events will be completely changed so don't expect an exact retelling of the story! I will be trying to keep the characters as in character as possible, but some plot points result in them acting differently than in canon.

On the day of November 23, 1981 in a house located in the south of Hampshire, England a young couple sits at their dining room table. Both adults were deep in conversation. On one side of the table sat a woman with dark brunette hair and a kind face on the other side a man with black hair and piercing grey eyes.

Furrowing his brows the man spoke, "Are we absolutely sure this is the right time for us to do this". Smiling brightly in response the woman answered "I think it is the absolute perfect time, we have been talking about this for quite awhile and I think this would be perfect for us".

Sinking down into his chair a small smile slowly makes its way onto his face. "Alright then", he reached his hand across the table enveloping his wife's hand in his own, "let's do it". Clutching each other's hand the couple share another heartwarming smile, filled with excitement and nervousness.

That next weekend found the couple in their car, taking a drive down to MYHP Adoption Agency.  They had made the call that day requesting a meeting with an agent.

Pulling up to the side of the street they found themselves looking at a tall purely grey building with large windows framing the sides. A sign placed on the front over the glass doors titled "MYHP Adoption".

Shutting off the car the husband turned to his wife before asking, "Are you ready?". Taking a deep breath she turns to her husband and gives a nod of affirmation.

The couple then exits the car and make their way into the agency. Walking through the doors they found themselves in a room filled with colour. The walls were painted with all types of murals and fantasies. A desk sat in the middle of the room and behind an elderly woman stood organising papers while humming a tune of Adam and the Ants: Prince Charming.

Walking up to the desk they stood awkwardly, waiting to be noticed.

Turning around her eyes landed on the couple. Jumping back in surprise she placed her hand over her heart "My goodness you surprised me". Straightening up she shoots them a blinding smile, reaching over the desk offering a hand in greeting.

"Hello it's nice to meet you, you two must be Mr and Mrs Davies. I'm Darla Baker, you can call me Darla. I'm the Director of MYHP Adoption Agency".

Offering up a smile of her own Mrs. Davies accepted her hand, "In that case you can call us Mia and Harvey".

"Of course, it truly is a pleasure to meet the both of you. You're right on time for your meeting. Just head back down the hallway to the right and enter the first room. One of our Counsellors is waiting for you".

"Alright, thank you Darla" Harvey replies, taking his wife's hand and heading down the hallway.

The couple enters the first doorway they see finding themselves in a cosy meeting room, adorned with photographs of happy families and children. The couple takes a seat, their hands tightly clasped together, their eyes filled with hope. They exchange a few reassuring smiles, silently encouraging each other to stay positive.

Moments later, the adoption counsellor enters the room, carrying a folder filled with information about potential birth mothers and babies. With a gentle smile, she introduces herself and begins the meeting by asking the couple about their desire to adopt.

The couple eagerly shares their journey, explaining their longing to provide a loving and nurturing home for a child. They talk about their stable careers, supportive families, and their deep commitment to raising a child with love, compassion, and endless opportunities.

As the conversation continues, the adoption counsellor listens attentively, taking notes and asking thoughtful questions. She seeks to understand the couple's preferences, values, and expectations regarding adoption. With each answer, the couple becomes more comfortable, sensing the counsellor's genuine interest in their story.

The counsellor then explains the adoption process, outlining the various steps they will need to undertake, including background checks, home visits, and the creation of a profile to be shown to birth mothers. She assures them that the agency will be there every step of the way, providing guidance and support.

The counsellor shares stories of different adoption situations, highlighting the unique circumstances and preferences of each birth mother. She explains that the agency strives to match families based on compatibility, ensuring the best possible outcome for both the birth mother and the adoptive parents.

Closing her folder the counsellor smiles at the couple "alright then I think that's all I need from the both of you. I'll keep in touch about the next steps of the process".

As the meeting draws to a close, the couple expresses their gratitude for the counsellor's time and assistance. They leave the agency feeling hopeful, knowing that they have taken a significant step towards fulfilling their dream of becoming parents through adoption. With their hearts filled with love and anticipation, they eagerly await the next chapter of their journey.

It's about 6 months later, after rounds of home checks and interviews, when the pair receives a call from MYHP.

Excitedly, the couple listens intently as the adoption agency shares the details about the baby boy who might be their perfect match. They learn that he is just a little over a year old, with adorable chubby cheeks and bright blue eyes. The agency describes him as a happy and healthy baby, with a charming and playful personality.

As the couple listens to the agency's description, their hearts fill with hope and anticipation. They have been waiting for this moment for what feels like an eternity. The agency informs them that the baby's biological parents are unknown with no record of being born, and they believe that this couple could provide a loving and nurturing home.

Overwhelmed with emotions, the couple thanks the adoption agency for considering them and promising to do everything in their power to provide a loving home for the baby boy. They hang up the phone, their hearts filled with hope and dreams of becoming parents to this little bundle of joy.

With renewed energy, they immediately start preparing their home, creating a nursery, and buying all the essentials for their future son. They imagine the first time they will hold him in their arms, the precious moments they will share, and the love they will shower upon him.

Days turn into weeks as the couple eagerly awaits updates from the adoption agency. They spend their time daydreaming about their future with their little boy, picturing family outings, bedtime stories, and all the milestones they will witness together.

Finally, the day arrives when the agency calls again. With bated breath, the couple answers the phone, their hearts pounding with anticipation. The adoption agency's voice fills their ears, confirming that they have been matched with the baby boy. Joy floods their hearts, and tears of happiness stream down their faces.

In that moment, the couple's lives are forever changed. They are filled with gratitude and overwhelming love for the baby boy who will soon become their son. They eagerly await the day they can bring him home and begin their journey as a family, knowing that their lives will never be the same again. Not knowing that this baby would change their lives in the most surprising of ways.
