The man seem to be merely curious but I wasn't willing to take chances. I stand in front of Thomas, my arm outstretched.

"This is Thomas, I bought him with me and will bare all responsibility for my actions." I tried to sound strong but my voice wobbled. "I wasn't sure if he would be able to follow the instructions without help."

"Huh, Okay." The eccentric mad scientist looking dude says in shock before turning back around to face his desk.

I let out a breathe I had been holding, maybe I wouldn't get in trouble after all. I walk over to the chair cautiously, allowing Thomas to sit there instead of me.

"First order of business, Tigerean you ready?" The scientist asked while sorting another tray of vails.

The other man nods and moves toward us. He had shiny, neat blond hair and piercing blue eyes. They weren't as haunting as the girl whose eyes appeared to be covered in frost but still they were terrifying. The man's expression softens.

"I see you have meet our Paralyo." His voice was soothing. "A rare yet haunting ability, she is definitely a force I don't want to challenge."

"How did you..." He knew what I was thinking about! How?!!!

He looks down embarrassed. "I'm a telepath," His voice barely audible but I definitely heard it.

My mind raced. He could hear my thoughts. My brain was practically jumping of my skull thinking all the things I didn't want anyone to hear, but I couldn't not think about them now that I was. Shoot. Fire fills my stomach, then  my head. The fire burned my thoughts to nothing creating a blazing barrier to wall of my brain from outsiders. Tigerean  winced.

"We should get started." He sighed leaning away from me alittle. "My job is to implant the knowledge of our species, such as the enlightened language in your head, so you can better understand your situation." He looks at my expression. "Sorry, this isn't pleasant for me either. Human thoughts are much louder than elves."

He proceeds to stretch his arms to my temples, placing his cold fingers either side of my head. "Be very still"

I went to nod but decide against it as it would defy what he had asked me to do.

This should only take a moment.

I flinch at his voice in my head. Will it  hurt? I asked without speaking. I look up at him expectantly. He shook his head.

I would never do something to hurt you, or any other human for that matter. In fact I don't full agree with the sanctuary.

A few seconds pass then Tigerean draws his hands away from my head. I had expected to feel different but I didn't feel anything at all.

"All done." Tigerean said in his quiet voice.

"Did it even work." I ask quizzingly. "I don't feel any different."

Tigerean raises his eyebrows. "You shouldn't. And yes, it did work, your speaking the enlightened language."

I was shocked. I was speaking another language! How could I and not even notice? I already spoke three languages, was it really necessary to speak another? I wasn't sure whether to be horrified or impressed that this man had implanted information in my head. Things like that should be impossible. The eccentric man smiled over at us.

"My turn." He said moving a seat over for me while Tigerean turned to Thomas and set his fingers on his temples.

"My name is Elwin and I will be overseeing your detox today."

I sat down in the cold chair staring at his odd glasses. He smiled widely.

"Do you like them?" He said pushing them further up on his face. "They allow me to see your cells"

My mouth falls agap. See my cells? But they were impossibly small, how on this blue earth could those silly glasses see them?

"H-how?"

I start confused before stopping myself. If someone had the ability to freeze me in place or read my thoughts he could probably see my cells. What was this world coming to?!

He smile again. "Like this."

A ball of purple light appeared in his hand. I gasp alittle.

"I'm a flasher." I almost burst out laughing, a Flasher.  seriously what were they thinking. "I can manipulate light. Wrapping different color light around you means I can see, with help of these glasses, different things within your cells."

The ability sound cool but it really needed a new name. All of a sudden a band of blue light engulfed me.

"Wow," He blew out a low whistle. "Those are some exhausted looking cells."

He continues to test with various other colours while adding or taking vials off a metal tray.

"We had to make soooo many different serums to accommodate for the polluted lives you humans lead." Elwin said in a exhausted voice. "Or stocks had been severely depleted."

Well maybe you weirdos shouldn't have kidnapped a bunch of people then you would have to. I thought fiercely while trying to keep my puzzled expression. Apparently it didn't work because Elwin closed his mouth and looked slightly offended. He handed me the tray.

"Drink these." His voice now flat.

I felt slightly bad for my feelings toward him, it really did seem like they were trying to help. The situation was just all wrong. I wanted to be at home. I stare down at the colourful vials wondering what they all did. It didn't seem likely that they would hurt me after all that silly stuff I had to do but anything was possible. Cautiously I uncorked a vial filled with innocent looking pink shimmery liquid and raised it to my lips. I took a small sip then immediately regretted it.

"It better if you chug them, they don't taste very pleasant, but they will help." Elwin said looking back in my direction. "There is a pack of prattles to help with the taste."

I looked at the yellow box that sat on the edge of the tray. The packaging was similar to boxed candies but it open fully at the top rather than a little spout. Carefully it tore the cardboard to reveal what looked to be candied nuts and a velvet pouch. I flip the box over and read the small words in a red speech balloon. Comes with it every own prattles pin.  Huh, neat. Inside the pouch was a small pin about the width of my thumb. On it was the picture of a sweet looking tabby cat, similar to the one I saw at the cafe and the numbers 248750900 of 600 million. I turned the cold metal around in my hand for a moment while staring at the vials. I seize the opened vial and chugged the vile pink liquid willing my stomach to keep it down. I fumble with the prattles box and shove a candy in my mouth willing the awful taste to leave.

One down, far too many to go.
