Elementism went swiftly. Ms. V spent most of the time hating on our previous education and explaining how dumb humans were. It was rather insulting. She said that we would learn how to bottle the elements which seemed ridiculous until she released and caught whirlwind within five minutes.
The universe class across the hall was taught by a fidgety man who stumbled over the names of the constellations we were looking at in the darkened nighttime like screen ceiling. Just like Ms. V he showed us how to bottle starlight with a weird type of telescope.
And finally animals of the world. The class was shown beautiful mythical creatures that shouldn't exist but did. And a whole array of extinct animals too. My goodness humans were wrong about dinosaurs, they were covered in feathers. Who would have thought. Mothie, a brownish feathered triceratops, was adorable. So much so I think she is officially my new favourite animal.
I think so far Animals of the world was going to be my favourite. Park B was beautiful with brightly colored flowers and plants decorating the space, it felt like I was outside. It was located just above the classroom, and bonus only one short-ish flight of stairs to scale in order to reach it. It was weird that being busy made me forget that was held here against my will, rather it felt like I was in a fairytale school. In fact I wanted to do well, exceed in these silly classes. What was happening to me?!
~
I lay across my plain grey bed while looking down at the dining hall from my pod window. I was very high up, it made me almost nauseous. This place was so crazy, it didn't even feel real. Also I was weirdly calm for being kidnapped and held in an undisclosed location. Sighing I turned to my closet, I had PE next. PE was never a subject I enjoyed at school. I would constantly feel out of place. I grip the white mech bag and unzip the side. Inside was the uniform I had seen at breakfast, grey shorts with red stripe and a simple red shirt. Once I had changed I went back down stairs this time gripping the side of the tube in hopes it would help, it didn't though.
The hall was filled my various people milling around, most of which were doing nothing. Around I spotted several others who had changed into their PE gear. Unfortunately the creepy twins from Elementism were to. I sit down at what I was beginning o think of as my table and pass time by fiddling with my wristband. Technology was kind of my thing, maybe I could find a way to contact home on this thing. Although I doubt it would be easy they probably worked on a different frequence to human technology. After a few minutes a sweaty exhausted Siddi plonks down beside me.
"That was torture" Her voice as high and faint.
She clearly just had PE, I begin to panic.
"Was it bad?" I asked nervously already knowing the answer.
She nods "They made us do some kind of physical. A test the how fit we were. It was intense." she rests her head on the table. "I think they are going to calibrate everyone their own personalized improvement set. When two of the other kids refused to go on they both received 2 demerits, that's the only reason I kept going. I thought I was going to die!"
This was the most Siddi had ever said and I was not liking it one bit. PE sounded like a horror show. Although I guess this meant we had the same breaktime. Hold on weren't we half way through break already?
"That sounds awful." I say sympathetically "How come it took so long for you to get here?"
"Going up stairs after that hellish nightmare was torture of its own. I hurt everywhere." She says turning her head on the table to look at me.
"maybe a shower will help?" I say suggestively. She really stunk.
She nods ruefully hauling her aching body over to the tube. My eyes trail her through the growing crowd until she disappears. What if it really was as bad as Siddi said, I would honest die. Suddenly I was dreading PE even more than before.
By the time Siddi was back the hall was beginning to fill up with annoyed teens fresh out of class. Lunch officially began and this time there were options. Siddi and I decided to choose opposite food to share so we could taste more of the wide selection. My tray was filled with a handful of small spikey cherries, a chocolate ripplefluff (the elven equivalent to a cupcake) and a container of pasta in a stringy purple sauce. Siddi had a squat yellow pear covered in pink spots a caramel ripplefluff and a leafy salad. The pear thing was quite simply disgusting, so much so we vowed to never eat it again. Other than that everything tasted alright. While we were eating I filled her in on all the details of my classes although she had agriculture instead of the universe.
A trill bell sounded followed by the words, next session starts in 15 minutes.
"you should get going Isla." Siddi says sadly "It quiet a long walk."
"Yeah I guess I should" like Siddi I wanted to stay and talk to her but sadly time stops for nobody. "See ya."
"Bye"
To that I scoop up my bag and begin to walk towards my doom, PE.
