Once Elwin and Tigerean were done we were promptly hurried out of the room and back into the hall we were in before. more food was passed out as everyone waited. Once everyone had completed orientation the bodiless cheery voice switched from announcing names and room numbers to a speech on human dignity. I don't think anyone was listening, we were all much to tired, the day was truly wearing on and sleep wasn't something any of us experienced last night. Once the speech was concluded a holographic image sprung out of the band my wrist. In fact the whole room was lit up with bright glow. I stare at the box.

PLEASE WAIT FOR ASSISTANCE
I gather that he will have somebody come and help him, it just won't be me. I sigh, it funny how attached to the kid in a day.
The speakers were blaring a message about how we were to follow the signs to our designated quarters and how we weren't supposed to enter one we didn't belong to because the computers would alert them officials.

The west wall began to open, sliding away as if it were never there. In its place was a colorful assault to the eyes. Signs plastered the walls with arrows pointing down the several corridors. My wrist-band emits another image this time a red square emblazed with a map. People start to begrudgingly filter out of the room and into the maze of hallways ahead of them. Thomas' wrist still says to wait so I grab his hand and walk toward the side of the rom out of the way. A few minutes tick by and a group of people start to gather around the walls, many of which were children with to please wait sign hovering above their wrist. I wait quietly with him until a group of gnomes about his height enter the room. I kneel beside him.
"These people are going to take you to... to your pod." I say hesitantly. "And your going to go with them , Okay?"
I didn't want to leave him alone with them but I didn't have much of a choice. Who knew what they did to people who defied them. The gnomes were humming a calming tune that seemed to take a literal effect in an instant. Thomas nods and turns to face the gnomes. I get back up and turn to leave as well before I was stopped by a small pair of arms around my waist.
"Bye Isla" Thomas mumbles.
I smile sadly a tear running down my face.
"I see you soon okay" I lie through my tears.
What if I never see him again. I hug him back and finish my goodbye, leaving Thomas with the gnomish people.
The red square zooms in with an arrow pointing to corridor number 2 when I draw closer to the halls. I was so caught up in worrying I forgot the bright red map was even there. the rush was over now so I walked through the nearly empty halls on my open follow the directions on my band. Through hall two, up so many stairs my legs hurt and follow corridor 19 to the end before going up more stairs. If I had to do this everyday I would die. After what seemed to be an eternity of walking I came out into a massive space.
It must have taken up multiple stories, maybe even a whole crystal shard thing. A bright red B hovered in the center. One wall was entirely filled with hexagons. The floor was glass so I could see the park like training area below me as well as the hall filled with tables. there was a lot of signs here too, pointing to classrooms, the training area and lifts. Also there was many creatures like gnomes, the grey giants and humans milling through the hall, possibly even elves.
I look at my band again. "Please proceed to lift 6" was written across the still red screen.
Following the signs I made my way to the lift 6, a small, one person tube on the wall with all of the hexagons. I press the round, thumb sized button and wait a few seconds for the lift to appear. Cautiously I step inside. The door slides shut silently behind me.
PLEASE SCAN BRACLET a bodiless voice says.
I do so. The lift jerks to a start speeding upward faster than any other lift ever. I squeal in shock. The lift banks left throwing me into the wall. No wonder the lift was so small, anymore room and there could be serious problems. The wall was kind of. soft though. Then as fast as it started it stopped throwing me against the wall just after I got to my feet. The door slides open to reveal a small, hexagonal prism room with a bed covered in grey sheets, a closet and a desk. The far wall was blank.
Welcome Isla to your Pod
I step out of the elevator and look around. The elevator door closes, leaving no evidence of it ever being there. On the wall was a control panel with a blank screen. I move and sit on the bed. It was soft I'd give them that. I wonder if I can leave my pod i thought warily to myself, but I was to numb to care.
Would you like to set up your pod?
The voice from before asks. What else was there to do, besides if I was going to live here I might as well make it mine.
"Yes." I say clearly.
All of a sudden the once red hologram on my wrist changes to a Pod customization screen. There was all kinds of things I could do, change the blank wall to a window, set my clothing preference and size and create a Human Citizen account. Lying on my bed I set to work.
