Two Weeks Later

The table was perfect...this was just supposed to be a friendly lunch with their Indian friends. And one special invitee. Dar chuckled as he saw Ar-Khan roaming around the perimeter. The lion had been shocked upon seeing their Earthly home in wintertime. Snow had fallen a few days earlier, the first the Lion had ever laid eyes on. He still paused to lick damn near every accumulation he came near. He was glad he'd rigged that tongue for taste and touch. Hell, just getting the golden alloy to act like a tongue had been tricky enough. Finally, the great head yanked up as he patrolled and played...Dar could no longer tell when one started and the other stopped...and the Lion whispered to his mind, "I think they are here...vehicle coming down the long driveway." Kynna puts on her coat and steps outside unto the porch to call the kids inside for a break to warm up, "Ar-Khan it may be our friends. Do you know where the kids are? Not sure if they heard me." Dar watched their new Guardian stride up with Miranda still clenching the furry mane as the great lion took pains to make sure she didn't fall, "Darsian and Liandra are still by the lake doing that lip-pressing thing you bipeds seem so fond of. I've mind spoken both of them." Ar-Khan replied, "Still getting used to standing here and being able to see them clearly there. Well, done Knight." Dar smiled and retrieved his daughter who grabbed onto him tightly as he reflected on what he'd gleaned from his son about his love life. Maya's extended family had celebrated her turning 16 with pressing her for a name of a boy to marry so the 'negotiations' could begin. Dar had to remember their customs were very different. Maya had pressed Darsian who made it very clear he was not ready for marriage no matter how many of the Hidden lands people pressed him and broke up with her. Liandra had sensed an opportunity...and pounced. Kynna smiles and giggles some, "Ar-Khan that's a kiss. they do need to take it slower though... Darsian did just dump Maya...I don't want him rebounding and hurting Liandra."

Dar nodded, "Agreed." He was tempted to make a Pornhub reference over brother and foster sister but thought the better of it. He tucked Miranda in her chair...not truly a highchair as her coordination was much better than any toddlers. And she tended to eat most of what you fed her...except meats. She turned them down every time. He motioned for Ar-Khan to hide himself in the brush as he heard Cloud's SUV pull in and park, "Be ready, the other girl's uncle is with them." Ar-Khan whispered to both of their minds as Dar looked at Kynna annoyed as hell suddenly. Kynna nods putting up a calming hand to ease Dar. Then she turns to the SUV and smiles waving. Dar saw the Lion almost vanish with a simple shift in coloring as he hid nearby. Everything about their new friend seemed to be working. He wished their human connections were as easy to fix he thought as Cloud, Snow, Black Raven and a man he thought of as 'Wishy-washy' even as he remembered his name of Oneishamas. He grinned and took Cloud's handclasp with a grin and Snow made to hug Kynna. He grinned and gave Black Raven a hug then shook Wishy's hand...ugh, he'd have to rein that in before he said the name publicly, "Nothing fancy my friends, just a light picnic lunch before our surprise." Kynna smiles hugging Snow and giggles. Dar saw Black Raven pour himself some wine and grab a sandwich before he commented on Miranda, "She's getting so much bigger...she's only 2 and looks like she's closer to five." Dar nodded as their daughter munched on some baby carrots and grapes making surprisingly little sound. Oneishamas chuckled and grabbed a beer, his drink of choice and another sandwich, "And you have twins as well as the boy and your Foster child?" Dar nodded, "Well, we didn't plan it...but we have it all now." Dar laughed and grabbed a beer himself saluting their guests as Snow also grabbed a beer.

Kynna grabbed a goblet of her preferred 'wine', "Well they are all happy and healthy at this time that's all I ask for as their mom." Wishy nodded...and pounced, "It's all any of us want, with Maya's parents dead, her future has fallen mostly to my wife's and mine." He took a healthy drag on his beer, "Your son hurt her deeply when he ended things with her." Right to the point. Cloud growled a bit low in his throat, but Dar nodded "Cultures are different sir. I was unaware Maya would expect marriage arrangements at so young an age, and sixteen may be a woman to you. It is not to me, still too American maybe. And when it comes to such things, I won't force the issue for him." Kynna leans on a wall looking into her goblet before taking a sip, "He is demon blood too. We demons never mix our blood with pure native blood as was part of my deal with this tribe over a century ago." Dar saw a hint of irritation on the Indian's face, "Yes, let the kids choose their mates, not those who are older and wiser. That must be why so many marriages for you Yanquis fail so badly." Dar laughed, "And you think that's the reason?" Wishy added, "One of them." Dar laughed and Cloud rolled his eyes and Snow smiled, they'd heard this before, "Yes, it is one of them. Add a society that views its men as disposable, only honors them when they bring value to a marriage or relationship. Only loves women, dogs and children without qualification and loves men only when they HAVE value or are deemed worthy of being loved...whatever the fuck that is supposed to mean. And don't even get me started on divorce and child custody." His eyes flashed red as Oneishamas cringed a bit, "I apologize. I just wanted a good marriage for Maya, she is dear to us." Dar almost wished he could have Snow do the truth chant on that. He'd heard enough about this weasel but decided to let things drop, "And I want my son happy, he says he isn't ready for that yet and I agree with him."
