Chapter 5

Later The Same Day

Dar emerged from the portal in a stand of trees out of sight of the village. He and Cloud had set that up some months back so his sudden appearance wouldn't alarm anyone. Dar shifted his form to a mostly human appearance and walked into the growing village smiling at the people who knew him. Almost immediately one of the kids took off calling for the Chief and Medicine woman. "Guess then REALLY know me..."

Kynna was sitting with Snow when they all heard the commotion. Cloud had Kynna stay back a bit. They didn't know what was happening yet. Dar gave his wife and hug after he saw her and looked puzzled, "Thought you were going to try and talk to Cyre's spirit...?" Then he turned to Snow, "I need to speak to your brother and you if you have the time." Kynna smiles hugging him back and kisses his cheek softly, "I will be soon love." Dar grinned as Cloud walked up and they embraced. Snow giggled, "You're one of the few people he'll do that too." Dar nodded, "That's what happens when you get stuck together in that shithole of a country doing what we did. It's kind of good that my wife is here...we found out one possible explanation for how that witch got inside our defenses." Cloud looked confused, "What could it have to do with us?" Kynna looks up at him, "What's up love?" Dar looked as if he didn't want to bring it up and he didn't. What Snow went through was bad enough, now he had to tell her at least one piece of her being might have been abducted by a deadly enemy. Well, it wouldn't get easier by just standing here, "We had our Lawgiver, also one of our most powerful mages, come by and we told him everything that happened and we compared notes with some other friends...and Cassandra." He said looking at Cloud and enjoying the shocked look on his face, "Snow, Lord Scorn thinks when you got shattered Glinda may have gotten her grubby mitts on one of your avatar pieces. Just enough of you to fool the totems and let her swap one of them, or more of them."

Kynna looks down some having not wanting to hear that again. Dar saw Cloud and Snow exchange looks, "The dream I had..." Snow said to her brother. Cloud nodded, "Dar, she's had a dream...", Snow held up three fingers, "...three?" Her brother said worriedly. "Where she was fighting or speaking in a different voice." "Oh shit," Dat looked at his wife. Kynna growls some, "I swear Glinda will die once I can get her. I will have it to where she can't use her powers either anymore." Dar had a thought, " Snow, do you think she heard or felt you listening to her?" Snow shook her head as Cloud looked at him, " What's on your mind big guy?" Dar grinned, " Odd as it sounds maybe a way to listen in on her." Snow smiled and nodded slowly, "Like some crazy version of dream walking?" Kynna looks to Snow, "Seems that way. And she can possess people at times without them knowing it also, but only if she has a piece of them." Dar spoke again, "Another possibility...is she listening in on you." He said gently looking at his friend. Snow looked shaken, "I don't know, how would I know?" Dar looked at his wife, then Cloud, "We need to find out. And get that fragment back if we can." Kynna thinks and smirks, "Love I think I know how this happened. Remember when we came back to help her? I brought her back, right? What if what I did was enough to get that shard away? The damage could have been done here before then." Dar nodded and looked at Snow, "Do you feel off? Like something is missing or not behaving right?" The maiden shook her head, "No, just the dreams." "So, the witch may have it, or not have it." Dar looked exasperated. Cloud shook his head, "Totems say she has it...something fooled them."

Kynna thinks some, "I think we need new totems, again. This time ones made with mine and Dars blood and no powers from Snow can be involved. We have to be cautious." Dar saw Snow smile and added "There's a High Fire next week...medicine women and Shamans from a lot of tribes. Some have gifts like mine. Ask them if something can be done?" Dar noddedm "I say yes." Cloud nodded in agreement, "I would too." Kynna nods some, "That means I have to use my human disguise as most of them have yet to meet me...I haven't used that form in forever it seems." Dar saw Snow touch Kynna's hand, "I'll have to introduce you...some of them are strong enough to know what you are, and they know a War for Hell happened. " Dar nodded, "And we need help, not more enemies." Cloud shook his head, "You don't want these people against you. Some of them are strong." Kynna nods some smiling, "Alright." Dar sighed and chuckled, "Just when we thought peace could break out..." Cloud coughed his drink up and started laughing as well. Snow just shook her head. Kynna blushes and nuzzles Dar as her tail slithers up his back to his neck.
