It had been a few weeks since Jungkook revealed his relationship with Ragini to their close circle, and since then, everything seemed to be going smoothly for them. Jungkook was more possessive than ever, constantly watching over Ragini like she was his entire world. And to him, she was.
But Taehyung—he wasn’t handling things as well as he thought he would. Ever since he found out about Ragini and Jungkook, he had been avoiding her, putting distance between them. He couldn't stand the conflict inside him, the pang of jealousy that gnawed at him whenever he saw them together. Jungkook's obsessive protectiveness over Ragini only intensified the sting, making it clear how much she meant to him. Taehyung didn’t know how to process his feelings anymore.
He saw how happy she looked with Jungkook, and that’s what made it even more difficult. What could he do? He had to bury those feelings, but the more he tried, the more he found himself thinking about her.
At times, he found himself replaying moments in his head—the times they’d hang out as friends, laugh about silly things, or when she would confide in him. Those days seemed long gone now. And while he cared deeply for Jungkook, the possessiveness Jungkook displayed over Ragini made it clear there was no room for Taehyung to even think of stepping closer.
Ragini, on the other hand, had become swamped with work. The deadlines kept piling up, leaving her exhausted by the end of each day. Her once frequent texts to Jungkook had become shorter and less detailed. She didn’t have as much time to meet up with him, and it was starting to frustrate him. He felt her slipping away, even though he knew she wasn’t intentionally pulling back. But to Jungkook, it didn’t matter. He craved her attention—her presence—like he needed air.
Jungkook leaned back on the couch in his living room, staring at his phone, waiting for a message. He glanced at the time—she should’ve been done with work by now. But there was still nothing. His jaw tightened as he opened their chat, his thumb hovering over the call button. He wanted to hear her voice, to demand why she hadn’t called him yet. He knew it wasn’t fair to think that way, but his possessiveness made it hard to rationalize.
Meanwhile, Ragini sat at her desk in the office, her head buried in papers, too exhausted to notice the time. She felt guilty about not being able to spend more time with Jungkook, but she also knew she had no choice with the heavy workload.
Her usually vibrant personality had dulled under the weight of back-to-back meetings, endless emails, and tight deadlines. Every time she thought she’d caught up, another task would land in her inbox. Her mind was always racing, and it had started to affect her time with Jungkook. Even when they were together, she was distracted, constantly checking her phone or tapping away on her laptop.
Jungkook noticed. He wasn’t the type to let things slide. The longer this went on, the more restless he became. He was used to having her attention, her warmth, and her presence.
One evening, as they sat in silence, Jungkook looked over at her, her tired eyes fixed on her laptop. He had tried to be patient, but he couldn't take it anymore.
“Ragini,” he called, but she didn’t respond, too engrossed in whatever she was working on.
Jungkook frowned, his jaw tightening. He stood up, walked over, and without warning, he closed her laptop.
“Kook!” she exclaimed, startled. “What are you doing? I have deadlines—"
“I don’t care about your deadlines right now,” Jungkook said, his voice low and frustrated. “You’re working all the time, and I never get to see you. We’re barely spending any time together.”
Ragini sighed, rubbing her temples. She knew he was right, but she felt like she had no choice. “I know, baby, I’m sorry. I just have so much work to do. The PR projects are piling up. I can’t afford to fall behind.”
