Chapter 11

The team, minus Arjun and Mira, returned to India, their minds still reeling from the events in New York. Nishant, now in charge, led the debriefing session, his expression grim.

"What happened in New York was unacceptable," Nishant said, his voice firm. "Rohan's actions were a betrayal of our team's trust. We need to regroup and move forward."

The team nodded in agreement, still trying to process the fallout. They discussed the project's future, their voices subdued.

In the hospital Arjun's arms tightened around Mira, his warmth seeping into her bones. She felt safe, protected, and cherished.

"Mira, I'm so sorry this happened to you," Arjun whispered, his lips against her hair.

Mira's voice was muffled against his chest. "It's not your fault, Arjun. You saved me."

Arjun's grip relaxed, and he pulled back to look at her. "I'll always save you, Mira. That's what I'm here for."

Mira's eyes searched his, seeing the sincerity and concern etched on his face.

The hospital room door opened, and the doctor walked in, a smile on his face. "Mira, you're doing great. We'll discharge you soon."

Arjun's eyes never left Mira's face. "That's great news, Doctor."

As the doctor continued to explain Mira's recovery plan, Arjun's hand found hers, his fingers intertwining with hers.

Mira felt a spark of electricity at his touch, her heart racing with excitement.

Arjun's eyes locked onto hers, his gaze burning with intensity. "I'll take care of you, Mira. Always."

The doctor's voice faded into the background as Mira's world narrowed to Arjun's words, his touch, and his love.

The doctor smiled warmly at Mira. "You're lucky to have Arjun here to take care of you. I'm prescribing a week of complete rest for you, Mira. No work, no stress. Just relaxation and recovery."

Mira nodded, feeling a mix of relief and frustration. A week of rest sounded wonderful, but she had so much work to catch up on.

Arjun squeezed her hand reassuringly. "Don't worry, Mira. I'll take care of everything. You just focus on getting better."

The doctor nodded in agreement. "Arjun's right, Mira. Your health is the priority. We'll monitor your progress and adjust your treatment plan as needed."

As the doctor left, Mira turned to Arjun. "A week of rest? I don't know if I can do that."

Arjun smiled. "You have to, Mira. I won't let you overexert yourself. Besides, I'll be here to keep you company."

Mira's heart fluttered at the thought of spending a week with Arjun. "Okay, deal," she said, smiling weakly.

Arjun grinned, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I'll take care of you, Mira. I promise.”

Meanwhile, Arjun and Mira remained in New York, their presence still required for the ongoing investigation. They worked together, their bond growing stronger with each passing day.

As they collaborated, the tension between them became palpable. Arjun's protective instincts lingered, his eyes often drifting to Mira. She, too, felt the shift, her heart racing whenever their hands touched or their eyes met.

One evening, as they walked along the Hudson River, Arjun turned to Mira, his voice low. "I'm glad we're in this together, Mira. I don't know what I would have done if..."
