Chapter 5
Naina nodded, and the two friends got out of bed, got dressed, and headed downstairs to the living room. When they reached the door, Mr. Sharma called them over and said, "Look at this lovely bouquet someone has sent to Mira." There was a card attached to it. Mrs. Sharma said, "This card is for Mira; she should open it." Naina also agreed that Mira should open it and read it out loud, so their curiosity could be fulfilled.
Mira opened the card and read, "I am sorry." Naina asked, "What's more about it?" But Mira said, "That's it." Mira was annoyed with Arjun; after just one meeting, he was already involving himself with her family. Her mother had started to praise him for all the right reasons.
Mira was furious when she heard Naina address Arjun as her "husband." She had only met him once, and Naina's assumption was infuriating. "How can you say that?" Mira shouted at Naina. "I haven't even decided if I like him, and you're already calling him my husband! What if I break up with him? What if he's not a good person?" Mira listed all the flaws she had observed in Arjun during their brief meeting.Mrs. Sharma, who had been standing by, listening to her daughter's outburst, suddenly intervened, her voice stern. "Enough of this nonsense, Mira! How can you speak ill of Arjun? He's a nice guy, and your words are hurtful."
Mira was taken aback by her mother's sudden defense of Arjun. She calmed down, realizing she had overreacted, and said, "I'm leaving for work, Mom. Let's talk about this later”.
Mira left for work, and Naina did the same. As soon as Naina reached her office, her phone rang, displaying an unknown number. She answered casually, expecting a routine call.
"Hello?" she said, but there was only silence on the other end.
"Hello?" she repeated, starting to feel a bit annoyed.
After a few minutes of awkward silence, a deep voice finally spoke up.
"Hello," said the voice.
Naina's curiosity was piqued. "Who is this?" she asked.
"It's Nishant," replied the voice. "Arjun's friend."
Naina's expression changed from curiosity to surprise. "Oh, yeah! Hello, Nishant!"
"Hi, Naina," Nishant said, his tone friendly. "How are you?"
Naina's mind raced with questions, but she played it cool. "I'm good, thanks. How about you?"
As they exchanged pleasantries, Naina couldn't help but wonder why Nishant was calling her out of the blue. What did he want to talk about? And how did he get her number?
Nishant asked, "Would you like to have a coffee with me?"
Naina hesitated, unsure of how to respond. "Oh, I'm a bit busy now," she said, trying to sound polite.
Nishant chuckled. "No, no, not now. How about in the evening? Send me your location and I'll pick you up."
Naina felt a flutter in her chest at the suggestion. She wasn't sure if she was ready to meet him alone, but she didn't want to seem rude either. "I have my car, so you can just give me the location and I'll come by myself," she said, trying to sound casual.
Nishant agreed. "Okay, sounds good. I'll text you the address later."
With that, they hung up, leaving Naina wondering what she had just gotten herself into. She couldn't deny the excitement she felt at the prospect of meeting Nishant, but she also felt a twinge of nervousness. What did he want to talk about? And why did he seem so interested in meeting her?
Meanwhile, Mr. and Mrs. Sharma discussed Arjun and decided to call him, but they didn't have his number. They planned to ask Naina for it without telling Mira.
