The moon hung high in the sky, casting a silvery glow over Feline Haven as the last customers left, their laughter and chatter fading into the night. Bible was in the process of cleaning up, wiping down tables and picking up cat toys that had scattered across the floor, when Bas arrived."Bib! Sorry I'm late!" Bas called out as he stepped inside, shaking off the evening chill. "I brought some snacks!"
Bible looked up, a weary smile spreading across his face. "You didn't have to, Phi!" He set down the cloth and moved to the counter where Bas had placed a small bag filled with treats.
"Anything to help cheer you up," Bas replied, pulling out a couple of pastries and a thermos of hot chocolate. They sat down at one of the tables, and Bible joined him, finally allowing himself to relax a bit.
After a few moments of comfortable silence, Bible took a deep breath, deciding it was time to share what had been weighing heavily on his heart. "You won't believe what happened today," he began, the words spilling out in a rush. "I saw the same person who looks exactly like Phi Jes-like, exactly. I thought I was losing it at first."
Bas leaned in, eyes wide with curiosity. "Shiaa,Bib. Tell me everything!"
"I was at the flower shop across the street," Bible explained, his hands gesturing animatedly. "And I saw this guy just standing there, leaning against the entrance. It was like he stepped right out of my memories." He paused, the memory flooding back with vivid intensity. "I called him Phi Jes, but he just looked confused. He didn't know me."
"Shia...," Bas replied, leaning back in his chair, processing the information. "Do you think it was just someone who happened to look like him?"
"Maybe," Bible said, his voice trailing off. "But it felt so real. I can't shake the feeling that there's something more to it. Like maybe it's a sign or something."
Bas reached across the table, squeezing his hand. "I know it's hard, Bib, but you have to be careful. Grief can play tricks on your mind."
Just as Bible was about to respond, the bell above the café door chimed, breaking the moment. Both of them turned to see the familiar silhouette stepping inside. Bible's heart dropped into his stomach as he recognized the figure standing there.
It was the mysterious man-the one who looked exactly like his lover-now accompanied by a girl with bright hair and an easy smile. She was chatting animatedly, seemingly oblivious to the stunned expressions around her.
"The fuck?" Bas whispered, wide-eyed. "Am I high?"
Bible felt a mix of disbelief and dread wash over him. His heart raced as the pair walked further into the café, the girl pointing out the playful cats lounging around the room. Bible stood frozen at the counter, unable to process the sight before him.
"Is this a bad time?" the girl asked, glancing at them with an apologetic smile. "We didn't mean to interrupt!"
"No, it's fine," Bible managed to reply, his voice barely above a whisper. The mysterious man turned to face him, and for a brief moment, their eyes locked. Bible felt a jolt of recognition, a spark of something deep within him igniting once more.
"I'm sorry to bother you," the man said, his voice calm and steady, yet there was an underlying tension in the air. "I just... I saw your café from across the street, and I had to check it out."
Bible's heart raced as he fought to regain his composure. "Uh, welcome to *Feline Haven*," he stammered, his mind racing with a thousand thoughts. "What can I get for you?"
The girl stepped forward, her eyes lighting up as she took in the cozy atmosphere filled with purring cats. "This place is adorable! Can we get some hot chocolate?"
"Of course," he replied, turning to prepare their drinks, but his hands trembled slightly. He could feel the mysterious man's gaze lingering on him, an intensity that sent shivers down his spine.
While he prepared the drinks, he couldn't help but steal glances at the man, trying to reconcile the feelings swirling within him. Was this really just a coincidence, or was fate playing a cruel game?
As he returned with their orders, he set the cups down on the table, his heart pounding in his chest. "So, what brings you here?" he asked, trying to keep his tone casual despite the whirlwind of emotions inside.
"We just moved to the area," the girl replied, taking a sip of her drink. "I'm here visiting my cousin, and we wanted to explore some local spots. This place looked too cute to pass up."
"Yeah, I'm glad we stopped in," the man added, his voice smooth and warm. "I'm Jet by the way," he introduced himself, extending a hand.
"Jet," Bible repeated, the name echoing in his mind as if it held some kind of significance. "I'm Bible." Their hands met, and an electric spark shot through him, a brief connection that felt both familiar and foreign.
As they chatted, Bible found it difficult to focus on anything but Jet's striking resemblance to his late lover. The same laughter, the same warmth in his gaze-it was both comforting and painful.
"Do you have any cats available for adoption?" the girl asked, her excitement palpable.
"Yeah, we have a few!" he replied, trying to keep the conversation flowing while battling the confusion swirling in his mind.
But deep down, he couldn't shake the feeling that Jet's presence was more than just a coincidence. The hope he had felt before flickered back to life, igniting a sense of urgency. There was something he needed to know-something about this mysterious man who looked so much like the one he had loved and lost.
As the night continued, he found himself captivated by their conversation, the tension between them palpable. But in the back of his mind, questions lingered. Was Jet a mere reflection of the past, or was he somehow tied to the boy Bible had loved and lost?
