The moment Bible stepped into the hospital room, the air seemed to shift. Jet sat on the edge of the bed, his face pale and drawn, but his familiar, warm eyes held a mixture of relief and pain. Bible's instincts kicked in, propelling him forward without a second thought.

Without hesitation, he rushed to Jet, wrapping his arms around him in a tight embrace. The warmth of Jet’s body against his felt like a lifeline, grounding him amid the chaos of emotions swirling inside.

“Don’t you ever do that again!” Bible cried, his voice thick with desperation. “I thought I lost you!”

Tears streamed down his cheeks as he buried his face into Jet’s shoulder, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat beneath his cheek. It felt so good to hold him again, but the memory of loss lingered in the back of his mind. He couldn’t shake the feeling of impending doom, the dread of what could have been.

In the midst of his panic, a name slipped out—a name that had haunted him since he heard of Jet's accident. “Jes,” he whispered, the name escaping his lips like a fragile breath. It was a moment of vulnerability, a reflection of his heart's confusion.

Jet stiffened for a moment, his body going rigid against Bible's embrace. Bible felt the shift in energy, the unspoken weight of grief and the shadows of loss that lingered between them. But he was too wrapped up in his emotions to notice.

“I—I’m so sorry,” Bible stammered, pulling back slightly to look into Jet’s eyes. Panic washed over him as he realized his mistake. “I meant Jet! I meant Jet!”

He caught Jet’s gaze, seeing a flicker of hurt mixed with understanding. Jet swallowed hard, and Bible could see the internal battle playing out behind his eyes.

“It’s okay,” Jet replied softly, his voice hoarse. “I know it’s hard.”

Bible's heart ached at the tenderness in Jet's voice. “No, it’s not okay,” he insisted, wiping the tears from his face with trembling hands. “I just—I was so scared. I thought I would never see you again. I thought I lost you, Jet.”

Jet reached out, his fingers brushing against Bible’s cheek, a comforting gesture that ignited warmth within him. “I’m here. I’m alive,” Jet said, his voice steady but tinged with exhaustion. “I don’t want to be lost again, either.”

Bible's breath hitched at the vulnerability in Jet's words. He could see the weight of survival pressing down on him, the burden of being the only one to come back from the depths. “But you were in danger, Jet! You shouldn’t have had to go through that alone. I should’ve been there with you!”

Jet shook his head, a small, bittersweet smile forming on his lips. “It wasn’t your fault. I made my choices, and I’m here because of them. But I never wanted to put you through this pain.”

Bible's heart swelled with a mix of gratitude and sorrow. Jet had survived, but at what cost? He could see the shadows of the other instructors looming in Jet’s eyes, a reminder of the friends who hadn’t made it back, including Jes.

“I just wish I could’ve done something to help,” Bible admitted, his voice trembling. “If only I had been there…”

Jet pulled him close again, wrapping his arms around Bible's shoulders, holding him tight. “You don’t have to bear that weight. We’ll get through this together,” he murmured into Bible's hair.

In that embrace, Bible felt a flicker of hope reignite within him. Yes, they had both lost so much, but they were still here, together. It wouldn’t be easy, but they could find a way to navigate their grief and come out stronger.

“I don’t want to lose you,” Bible whispered, his voice muffled against Jet’s shoulder. “Not again.”

Jet tightened his grip, as if trying to reassure Bible that he was here to stay. “You won’t,” he promised softly. “I’m not going anywhere.”

As they stood together, wrapped in each other’s arms, Bible felt a sense of calm wash over him. They were alive; they had survived, and for now, that was enough. In the midst of loss, they would find their way back to each other, one step at a time.

In that moment, Bible realized that love was about more than just the joy of being together; it was also about facing the darkness and holding on tight. No matter what lay ahead, they would face it together, hand in hand, their hearts intertwined in a bond that would never break.
