I've already been yelled at for not updating, but I'll say it again. I'm sorrrrrrryyyyy. I'll try to update more, I promise. Pinky swear. Plus, this chapter is long. In the meantime, will you pretty please read, comment, vote, and tell people about my book? And especially, please tell me what you thought about this chapter. It would mean quite a lot to me. I'll love you forever, promise. :)

Eden P.O.V.

I could feel them looking at me. Every muscle, every fiber in my body itched to run, but I couldn't. It was too late for that. There was nothing I could do but hide. Adrian's eyes were locked on me, and while normally I would have kicked his sorry butt for gawking, I didn't care now. The little grandma in the corner however, was teetering back and forth, about to fall.

I tried to say, "Adrian", to point out the rocking lady, but it came out as a raspy, "Areeen". My chest began to convulse, and I bent over with a hand to my mouth.

"Eden. EDEN. What's wrong?", Adrian shoved his chair out of the way and moved to pick me up. Frantically, I shook my head. No. No. I didn't deserve to be picked up and carried. The only thing I deserved was to rot in hell. I threw Adrian's arm off of the shoulder it had come to rest on and directed it towards the owner. She should be helped. I should be left to die.

Clearly, Adrian didn't know what to do. He looked nervously back and forth between us, caught between helping his sorry, undeserving date or the now pale grandma by the table. Finally, he rushed towards the woman and gently took her shoulders. "You're ok, right? You're fine. Just sit down and you'll be fine. Just relax. You'll be fine," Adrian murmured as he directed her back into his chair and guided her lightly down so that she sat firmly in the middle, all the while muttering things like, "You just sit right there, ma'am", and, "I'm sure there's nothing wrong". But the look in his eyes said otherwise.

That look was true. Something was wrong. And it was all my fault. My fault. But other people would suffer. Adrian began to walk towards me, the question written on his face. I'd have to explain. I'd have to tell him. I COULDN'T DO THIS.

"Bathroom, where?!", I yelled as I shoved Adrian aside. The poor lady, startled as she was, pointed to a corner of the room with a pink, lacy block letter on it. W. "Thanks," I managed as I threw myself towards the door. I'd offer to pay for her therapy later. It wasn't like she could die again. Probably.

The door swung open as I crashed into it, and I was faced with pink. Pink counters, pink walls, pink stalls, pink trashbins, pink towels. All lined with lace of course. It made me want to throw up. So, I did the logical thing. I grabbed a lacy display basket of towels and threw it to the ground. The towels scattered as they hit the floor. I began to stomp on them, grinding them under my heel and yelling as I did so. "THIS," I screamed, "IS. ALL. MY. FAULT!", punctuating each word with a stomp. Juvenile? Maybe. Helpful? Definitely.

Panting, I slumped against the wall. The towels were covered in grime from my meltdown, so I gathered the ones in my range and piled them into a heap. Good enough. After what I'd done, it didn't matter. My head fell into my hands, and I began to sob wildly, uncontrollably. That's how Adrian found me.

The door swung open cautiously, and he poked his head through. "Hey, Eden. You, um, wow.", He finished incredulously, surveying the damage I'd done. " You're quite the expensive date, I've found". He grinned.

"Wha-what are you d-d-d-doing here?", I cried. "This is the w-women's bathroom."
"Yeah, well," Adrian sighed, "after that entrance I figured you might need some company." He sat down heavily next to me, easing himself down with one hand.

"So, you come here often?", He asked .
I snorted, but it came out as a sob, and the tears started to flow again.
"Adrian," I managed, "I'm so, so s-s-sorry!".
He turned towards me fully, and bent his head to look into my eyes.
"Eden.", He began, unusually serious," You have nothing to be sorry for, understand? If you didn't want to come on this date, you didn't have to. There are other ways to reject a man, for Christ's sake," he added, grinning cheekily before seeing my face and continuing. "However, I do need to know what happened. If something is wrong, My fa- I mean, God will have to know about it. Heaven needs to be kept a safe-haven."
At this, I started to bawl. Heaven wouldn't be a safe-haven. Not anymore.

Adrian ran his hand through his hair. "Damn. I said something wrong, didn't I?", He wondered aloud. I shook my head quickly. "Not y-you. Me.".
"Eden. I need you to tell me what's wrong. Now. Ok?", he asked. Not a question, but a command. Slowly, I gulped in a breath and nodded. "Ok". And the story came out.

I had been walking to the restaurant after getting dressed, and my hair was still wet. I was french braiding it as I went along, walking slowly to make sure I was getting all the hair in. As I turned the corner, the one with the brick wall and the roses, I suddenly felt like someone was watching me from behind. When I turned around, no one was there, but I still had that feeling. I couldn't shake it. And I was early for the date, so I followed the feeling where I felt I should and I came to this gate, huge and golden. On either side were white pillars, and a golden desk was on the left. The gate of heaven. Only, something was wrong. The key was hanging on a hook next to the gate. St.Peter was nowhere to be seen.
A.N. For those of you who have no idea who St.Peter is, he supposedly guards the gates of heaven and lets people in.
And then I heard a voice. "Please", it said, " whoever you are, please help.". I craned my neck to see who had spoken, and St.Peter stepped into view on the other side of the gate. He told me he had heard a noise and opened the gate to find the source, but once the gate shut behind him he realized he left his key on the hook, so could I please let him back in? It seemed strange that St.Peter, the guardian of the gate, would have forgotten his key, but I didn't see anyone else, and who am I to refuse someone that high up the rank, so I pulled the key down, which, let me tell you, was not easy, and opened the gate.
"And then,", I finished, "he stepped inside. And I realized what I had done. He, he w-wasn't St.Peter. He changed, Adrian. He sh-shape-shifted Into this thing, this big, hairy brown thing. And then he turned into a little boy, innocent and all". I took a deep breath and tried to swallow the lump in my throat. "He handed me a rose". I reached into what was left of my braid and pulled out a long stemmed, blood red flower. My rose.

Adrian's face was set, and he was grinding his teeth forcefully. I watched him for a while, scared of what he would say. Would I be kicked out of heaven? Is that possible? Finally, he cleared his throat. "Kamecs", he said. " He was a Kamec".
"Wha-what are those", I asked him. What have I done?
"They're big, hairy, brown. You saw them, what are you asking me for?"
"I m-meant who. Who are th-they?"
" They're humans, but not. You ever heard of hellhounds?" Adrian asked doubtfully.
I nodded, sniffed. " I've s-seen them in a movie. Percy J-jackson".
"Hm. Never seen that. Maybe It hasn't been shipped up here yet. Well, Kamecs are humans that have died on death row. They have committed the most gruesome murders, the cruelest killings. The devil turns them into monsters that go on his most important missions". Adrian shook his head. "They've finally come. It's happening".
"What? What's happening? Adrian, I can handle this. I have to fix what I've done. I have to change this". My tears were gone, replaced by a desperation to know.
Adrian shook his head. "It's too late, Eden. We have to tell God. We have to prepare an army". He stood up and moved to the door.
He would not leave without telling me what I'd done. " Adrian! I did this. I have to fix it. So you tell me what's going on right now!"
Adrian pushed the door open and began to walk out. Before he had fully left, he turned back to me.
"Armageddon, Eden. The battle of Heaven and Hell is beginning".
