The two of you walk towards the edge of the town, taking your time to say your goodbyes. She hums to herself beside you, her pink and green hair bouncing with every step. Then, she flashes you a knowing smile. "You know what would help with all that stress you carry around.. y'know, in your posture?"
You shoot her a cautious glance. "What?"
She gives you a playful giggle before continuing. "Getting some good dick. I always thought you and Giyuu would be a good match. You two always have that 'will they, won't they' vibe."
You nearly trip over your own feet at her suggestion, your cheeks burning with embarrassment. "What? No, we don't," you shake your head, trying to push away the image that immediately pops into your mind. "There's no vibe."
Mitsuri gives you a sly look, crossing her arms as if she can see right through you. "Oh, there so it. I mean, come on, you two are always stealing glances at each other. It's like you're waiting for him to make the first move. I swear, I've never seen a more sexually charged friendship."
You exhale slowly, fighting back your nerves. "It's not like that... I mean, I like him, fine, but... he's so distant. You and I both know he's not looking for that right now."
Mitsuri's smile only widens as she leans closer, nudging your arm playfully. "Only one way to find out. And, I bet he's a good lay," she adds with a mischievous wink, her tone light but genuine. "He's got that serious, brooding vibe, and trust me, that usually means... well, you know."
Your face burns even harder. "Mitsuri, please. I just told you he doesn't like me like that."
She hums thoughtfully. "Actually, I think he does. He's just... Giyuu. Kind of clueless about his own feelings. But if you're feeling all this pent-up frustration, maybe you should just talk to him. It'd be good for both of you, you know?"
You come to a stop, turning to face her. Her expression is soft yet encouraging, her big eyes filled with genuine concern for you. The light breeze rustles her hair, and the warmth in her smile makes you relax just a little.
"Or," she adds with a grin, "you could always just kiss him first and see where it leads."
You let out a breathy laugh, shaking your head. "I'm not sure I could do that, Mitsuri. I appreciate the help, but I'm probably better off just being friends with him. Though... I won't lie. He's definitely attractive."
"Mmm, you're right," Mitsuri agrees, glancing around as if making sure no one else is within earshot. Then, she leans in and lowers her voice. "Y/N, do you know why he's called the Water Pillar?"
"Uh... because he has a water-breathing technique?"
"Right, but not only that."
"Please don't..."
"Fine, but if you two do end up an item, don't forget who set you up!" She claps her hands together as if celebrating a small victory. "Okay?"
Unable to resist smiling, you pull her into a hug, her warmth easing the last bit of tension from your muscles. "Okay. Thanks for everything, Mitsuri. For the advice... and for helping me with training."
She returns your hug, patting your back lightly. "You're welcome, Y/N. That's what friends are for! Good luck with everything... and with Giyuu," she adds with a giggle. "He's more of a handful than he looks, but I think you'll manage just fine."
You both pull away, the conversation leaving you with more to think about than you'd thought. The rest of your walk is quieter, though Mitsuri's words stick with you, lingering at the edges of your thoughts with a persistent, tempting presence.
