Although you have always been sensitive to the thoughts of ghosts- you used to see them when you were younger- and were nervous to accept the offer, you agreed to tag along with Genya and his friends to the abandoned house in the middle of absolutely nowhere.
You silently follow them in, not saying much as you step into a long, dusty hallway. In front of you, a cobwebbed grandfather clock stands, ticking loudly. The sound immediately causes your stomach to knot.
Across the room, the wallpaper peels, and the floorboard creaks, but other than that, the house seems to be in pretty good condition. Not that it really helps the sinking feeling that's still growing within you.
"Is this place really haunted?" you whisper to Genya.
"I hope so," he nods, looking around the place.
You grumble. "Why?..." Doesn't he know better than to mess with things beyond the grave?
He shakes his head as he looks down at you beside him. "We came here to see a ghost, Y/N. That's the whole point."
You gulp, afraid to admit outright that you're scared. It is hard for you to talk about your feelings with Genya, you're not sure why, but you've done a pretty damn good job at keeping him oblivious to things you can't find the right words to say.
However, this time he tilts his head and looks at you oddly. "What? Scared, Y/N?" he teases.
"Shut up. No," you roll your eyes, walking past him into the next room. He raises his eyebrow, unsure what to think, but follows you nonetheless.
"You didn't have to come, you know," he tells you.
You didn't really want to go to an abandoned and possibly haunted house to get possessed by a random entity, but you did want to be with him. He's easy to get along with. Fun to be around. You enjoy your time with him. You're just a bit nervous, that's all.
Before you can think of how to respond, one of his friends calls out to the group. You follow the others into a small bedroom that smells sweet like candy.
"So, how are we going to do this?" asks the blonde who was leading the way. He is holding up his phone and pointing the flashlight at Genya.
"Dude," Genya nudges him. "What the fuck?"
"Do what?" you ask, looking between the two of them. "What're you talking about?"
"We weren't going to say anything yet-" Genya begins, but his friend interrupts him.
"We're going to do an Ouija board," the blonde says, like it should be obvious.
"No way," you shake your head. "You're not serious. That shit'll get something attached to you! Something you don't want to have following you around."
"That's the point," the blonde shakes his head.
"Don't be chicken, Y/N," Genya taunts you.
You scoff. "Am not."
Genya smirks at you, knowing he's hit a nerve.
"Don't worry," the blonde calls to the others as well. "It'll be fun."
"I promise I'll protect you, Y/N," Genya adds.
Your face burns at his words. Especially as he holds his hand out to you. Begrudgingly, you take it and sit with the others in a circle. "Don't you guys have like salt or sage or something? You know, for protection."
"We'll be fine," Genya says as he sits beside you. "Rengoku's here."
"And that's supposed to make me feel better because..."
