The rain poured down outside, tapping against the window like a gentle melody filling the room. Inside, though, everything was calm. You were curled up on the couch, wrapped in a soft blanket, and next to you sat Damian, his presence as steady as ever.

You shifted a little closer, resting your head on his shoulder, the warmth radiating from him making you feel safe. He didn't say much, but the silence was comfortable, wrapping around you like a warm hug. The world outside faded away, leaving just the two of you in your little bubble.

Damian had one arm casually draped around your shoulders, pulling you in tighter as the thunder rumbled in the distance. You could feel the tension in his muscles relax, and you smiled, knowing how much you both needed these quiet moments. They were rare and precious, especially after everything you two have faced every day.

As the storm raged on, you glanced up at him. His jaw was set, his brows slightly furrowed as he stared out into the rain-soaked city. He looked so serious, even in this peaceful setting. You reached up and brushed a few raindrops off his cheek that had escaped through the window, and he turned his head slightly, catching your eye.

In that moment, you could see the softness beneath the tough exterior-the part of him that was just for you. He shifted his gaze back to the rain, and the corners of his mouth turned up ever so slightly, just enough to show he appreciated the gesture.

It was enough to make your heart flutter.

"Always looking out for me, malaki." He murmured.

You chuckled softly, the sound muffled by the storm outside. By now, you were so used to the endearment that it barely made you blink. It was just what he called you—malaki, his angel. Yet every time he said it, it carried in itself a reverence that has always warmed you from the inside out.

"You'd think with all your training, you wouldn't need me to save you from raindrops." You teased, earning a low chuckle from him.

"You underestimate me." He shot back, but the playful look in his eyes gave him away.

The rain continued to pour, but inside, the chaos felt distant. Outside, the city was alive with the storm, but in this moment, you felt utterly at peace.

You shifted closer to him.

"No matter what happens out there," he said quietly, "you know I'll always find my way back to you."

A flutter of warmth filled your chest. You had always known he would. "And I'll be here, waiting." You whispered, your hand resting against his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart beneath your palm.

Damian's hand slid up to cup your chin, turning your face up toward his. His eyes were intense, the emerald depths flickering with something unreadable but unmistakably tender. For all the ways he struggled to show affection with words, his actions spoke louder. He leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead, lingering there for a moment before pulling back.

The outside world could wait. Here, in your shared cocoon of warmth and safety, everything was perfect. You rested your head back on his shoulder, closing your eyes as the sound of the rain became a soothing lullaby, your breathing falling in sync with his.

In moments like this, it was easy to forget about the chaos that always awaited you both.

And as Damian held you tighter, his lips brushing against your hair, you knew without a doubt that this was where you both belonged. Together.
