It is implied they had sex beforehand. Turn away if that makes you uncomfortable.
Summary: Cassie is cozied up in her room, feeling warm about Damian's stuff lying around. After Damian emerges from the bathroom, they share a kiss.

It was one of those rare, quiet nights in Gotham where the city finally seemed to take a breath, the chaotic hustle fading into a comfortable stillness. Cassie Sandsmark sat cross-legged on her bed, surveying the chaos of her room with a fond smile. Damian Wayne's jacket was flung haphazardly over her chair, and his black shirt lay discarded near her nightstand, an inadvertent reminder of their time together.
How did this even happen? she mused, running a finger over the fabric of his shirt, the faint scent of his cologne lingering in the air like a warm embrace. They had fought earlier, bantered back and forth until it led to this-whatever it was. Just moments ago, they'd been trading insults, both too stubborn to back down, and now...here they were.
She glanced at the bathroom door, half-listening to the sound of water running. Her heart raced with a mixture of anticipation and dread, the kind that bubbled up when she thought about Damian. Was he even aware of how charmingly infuriating he could be? She knew he was broody and intense, with that whole "Wayne" mystique about him, but somehow, that only made her want to poke the bear even more.
When he finally stepped out of the bathroom, water droplets glistening on his skin and hair tousled just right, Cassie felt her breath hitch. The way he held himself-confident, almost dangerous-made her stomach do flips. Why is he so good-looking? she thought, instantly annoyed at herself for getting flustered.
"What are you staring at?" Damian asked, crossing his arms, that signature smirk creeping onto his face. His dark eyes narrowed playfully, and she couldn't help but match his grin.
"Just admiring the view," she shot back, her tone teasing as she tried to keep her composure. Stay cool, she reminded herself. Don't let him know he gets under your skin.
"You know, you're far too good for that," he replied, taking a step closer, his gaze intense and piercing. It sent another rush of warmth through her.
Too good for what? she wondered. For holding back?
She decided to ignore that thought, refusing to let it unravel. "What, admiring the view? It's a gift."
He rolled his eyes, but she could see the corners of his mouth twitching, fighting off a full smile.
Just then, a heavy silence settled between them. Cassie leaned in slightly, her heart racing as she felt a gravitational pull towards him. Their words faded, replaced by a moment that seemed to stretch into infinity. She could feel the air thicken around them, an electric tension crackling in the space that separated their bodies. Is this what it's like? she wondered. To be drawn to someone like him?
Damian's breath hitched slightly as their faces drew closer, and without thinking, she closed the distance, their lips meeting softly. The kiss started off tentative, almost shy, but quickly ignited into something deeper, full of urgency and passion. Cassie felt herself melt against him, losing herself in the warmth that radiated from him, the world around them fading into the background.
When they finally pulled apart, both breathless, Cassie leaned her forehead against his, their noses brushing lightly. She could feel the heat from his skin, the way his dark eyes searched hers. What are we doing? she thought, a mix of exhilaration and confusion swirling in her chest.
"Hey," she murmured, wanting to ease the weight that lingered in the air, "we're still friends, right? No matter what this is?"
"Yeah," he said slowly, his voice low. "Just... don't expect too much. You know I'm not good with these things."
Oh, great. Here we go. She wanted to roll her eyes but managed to hold it back. "It's not like I'm asking to be your wife. I just want...this. Just...you. Is that so bad?"
He looked taken aback for a moment, his expression shifting. "No," he finally said, relief washing over him. "But you know how things can get complicated."
And isn't that the crux of it all? she thought. Complicated feelings in a complicated world. But Cassie wasn't about to let that stop her. Not tonight.
They settled into a comfortable rhythm, their conversations flowing from teasing to more serious topics, laughter mingling with the air. Cassie couldn't help but steal glances at him-how the light caught his features, how animated he became when he talked about things that mattered to him. Every moment felt precious, like they were crafting memories that would linger long after the night faded.
But deep down, Cassie couldn't shake the feeling that they were standing at the edge of something that could change everything. What if this is it? she thought. But she refused to think about that more. For now, she wanted to enjoy this moment, the intoxicating swirl of emotions.
As the night deepened, Cassie caught herself studying him, wondering if he felt the same weight of uncertainty that she did. "You know," she said, breaking the comfortable silence, "if we were to really do this-whatever it may be, it wouldn't be simple. We're not exactly the picture-perfect pair."
Damian raised an eyebrow, the corners of his mouth twitching. "You don't think I'm perfect?"
She laughed, shaking her head. "Not a chance. You're a pain. But that's why I like you."
"Like?" he echoed, the teasing glint in his eyes replaced by something softer.
"Fine," she admitted, feeling bold. "I might love how you challenge me. You make me feel alive, Damian. And that scares me."
His expression shifted again, something uncommon flashing across his face. "You don't need to be scared," he said softly, brushing a finger along her jawline. "I'm not going anywhere. I promise."
Cassie felt her heart swell at his words. "Just for this moment, then," she murmured, "can we hold on to this?"
Damian nodded, a rare smile breaking through his usual stoicism. "Yeah. Just this."
They lingered in their space, enjoying the silence, their foreheads resting together as they breathed in each other's warmth. The world outside faded away, and for now, it was just them.
And maybe, Cassie thought as she leaned closer, her heart racing, this is exactly where I'm meant to be.
