As Vedansh entered the room, I felt his presence before I even looked up. My heart skipped a beat, and I turned slowly to meet his gaze. The moment his eyes landed on me, I saw his expression shift from casual indifference to something more intense—surprise, admiration, and maybe even a bit of awe.
His eyes roamed over me, taking in every detail of the red gown he had gifted me. I stood there, feeling both nervous and excited under his gaze, and I could see the subtle change in his demeanor. The way he looked at me made me feel... special, as if the world had paused for just a moment.
"You’re wearing the dress," he finally said, his voice low and soft, as if he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. I nodded, smiling shyly, "Yes... I thought I’d surprise you."
His lips curved into a small, genuine smile, a rare sight for someone usually so composed. "You look... enchanting," he said, echoing the words from his letter, and I could feel my cheeks warming under his compliment.
For a brief moment, the world around us melted away. It was just me and him, and the way his eyes softened as he looked at me made my heart flutter.
"You like it?" I asked, suddenly feeling a little self-conscious.
Vedansh took a step closer, his eyes never leaving mine. "Like it?" He chuckled softly, "You look breathtaking, Shrushti."
His words washed over me, and I couldn’t help but smile even wider. I was used to his quiet, composed nature, but seeing him like this—caught off guard, appreciating me—was something entirely new. And I loved every second of it.
"Shall we?" I asked, feeling the excitement of the night ahead.
Vedansh nodded, still looking a bit mesmerized. "Let’s go," he said, offering his arm. I looped my arm through his, feeling a surge of happiness as we headed out together, knowing this was the start of a night we wouldn’t soon forget.
