Chapter: THIRTY TWO

It was a quaint and beautiful restaurant. Yunhee booked this place since Jungkook wanted to spend the evening alone with her. They haven't gone on a date or spent time together in a long time. He told her that the best birthday present for him would be to spend his birthday evening with her.

As they sat at their reserved table, a waiter unexpectedly appeared and placed a large box on the table with the words, 'Wishing you a very happy birthday, sir!'
Incredulously, he glanced at the box and then at the waiter. 'Thank you!'
With a bow, the boy walked away.

'Whoa! What is it?' His eyes gleamed as he gave Yunhee a broad smile.
'Open it!' She smiled softly and beckoned.

A gasp of surprise escaped his lips as he opened the box. A scrapbook, a jar of wishes and fairy lights, a personalized acrylic song plaque, some chocolates, and a cute little cake. As he took out the plaque, which displayed their photo and the song "Die with a smile," his eyes glistened with joy.

[I know this song was released recently, and Jungkook and Yunhee are in 2020, but it's fiction, so let's just ignore it because it's my current favourite song, and I really love the lyrics, so I had to choose it]

'This song...' His voice trailed off as his gaze fell on her soft gaze.
'I..I love this song, and the lyrics perfectly captured how I feel. So I thought you would.... like it?' As she finished speaking, her tone was slightly nervous.

'I Love it baby!' He exclaimed, pulling her into a hug. 'It's also one of my favorite songs you know!'

Yunhee smiled contentedly and released the hug. He retrieved the remaining items from the box and explored each present with loving eyes. The scrapbook was filled with memories of their eight-month relationship. His heart warmed at her efforts to make his day special.

'Open this jar, when you get home. You have to read one wish each day.' Pointing to the jar, she said.
'That's so thoughtful! I wasn't expecting something like this.' His eyes wandered over the presents as he spoke gleefully. He turned to her and kissed her forehead tenderly. 'I love you so much.'

'I love you more', she chirped, a warm smile coating her lips. 'Let's cut the cake.'

After cutting the cake they spent the rest of the evening eating and talking with one another.

TIME SKIP

After a wonderful evening together, they were on their way home. As they exited the building, Jungkook looked for his car keys in his pockets. But it wasn't there. He paused in front of his car, fiddling with his pockets. 'What happened?' Yunhee inquired, sensing his worry.
'I can't find my keys. Can you check your purse to see if it's there?'

She checked, but it wasn't there either. 'I think you left the keys inside the restaurant.' She frowned as she spoke. After a moment of reflection, he said, 'I think you're right!  Wait here, I'll be back!' He dashed back into the building after she nodded.

It was very quiet on the streets. Feeling uneasy, she cautiously glanced around when she noticed a group of young boys. They seemed to be in their teens. Thinking they were just some kids, she disregarded them. It was a mistake, though.

One of them gave a loud whistle, startling Yunhee, and when she looked at them in confusion, they smiled innocently. 'Hello, ma'am!' She grimaced and turned away, ignoring their creepy demeanor.

'Don't worry ma'am! We might be younger than you, but we have the money to pay you.' They all burst out laughing.
Her eyes widened at their foul comment, and she gave them a disgusted look. 'Excuse me??'

She retreated in terror as one of them came closer. 'Come on, don't be shy. We're all young, so I'm sure you'll have more fun than you think!' He winked, his tone was so repugnant that it made her stomach turn. The food she had eaten earlier was on the verge of spilling.
