It’s finally here—the wedding day. Amira’s wedding day. I can feel the energy buzzing in the air, like an electric current running through the house. After all the ceremonies, all the buildup, it’s finally time for the grand event. The morning light pours in through the windows, casting everything in a soft, golden glow, and I can’t help but feel a swell of excitement as I get Amira ready.

Amira sits in front of the mirror, her eyes sparkling as I work carefully on her hair, weaving flowers into the intricate braid, the colors of her sari reflecting in the mirror. The sari is a beautiful deep red with gold embroidery that shimmers in the light, each fold and pleat so perfectly arranged. Her face is glowing with happiness, and I can see her excitement mirrored in her reflection. She’s ready, she’s beautiful, and the whole family can’t wait to see her as a bride.

Priyanka is nearby, busying herself with small tasks, her little hands fidgeting as she’s watching me work. “Amina Aunty, you look so pretty today!” she chirps with a wide grin, her tiny voice lifting the whole mood in the room. I glance at her and smile, noticing how lovely she looks in her pink lehenga.

“Thank you, Priyanka. You’re looking gorgeous too,” I say, brushing a loose strand of hair from Amira’s face. “Now, don’t distract me too much, or I won’t finish in time.”

Ayush enters the room, looking dashing in his traditional sherwani, his eyes scanning the room with a proud smile. “Is the bride ready yet, Amina?” he asks, his voice low but teasing, like he’s enjoying watching the chaos unfold.

“Almost, just a few more touches,” I reply, turning to him and brushing off an imaginary piece of dust from his shoulder. “Are you nervous?”

He grins, his eyes softening. “Not about the wedding. I’m just hoping everyone behaves today.”

I laugh softly, shaking my head. “That’s never going to happen. It’s a wedding, Ayush. People always get a little wild.”

As I finish fixing Amira’s hair, I step back to admire my work. She looks radiant—more than ready to walk down the aisle. Her face is glowing, her eyes shining with excitement, and the moment feels almost magical.

“Amira, you look incredible,” I say, my voice filled with pride.

She smiles warmly, squeezing my hand. “Thank you, Amina. I couldn’t have done this without you.”

I feel a soft tug on my arm and turn to see Priyanka. She’s holding a small box with a shy smile. “Amina Aunty, I have something for you,” she says, opening the box to reveal a delicate bracelet. “It’s for the wedding. For you.”

I blink, surprised by the gesture. “Oh, Priyanka, it’s beautiful. Thank you so much.” I put the bracelet on, my heart swelling. “You’re going to be a great bridesmaid today, aren’t you?”
