Graduation

Prompt: you are graduating and invite Marjorie and Reece 

When you started at the nursery you were 16 and now you had just turned 18 and everyone at the nursery were your family basically they had been there through break ups and Marjorie even helped you learn how to drive and would take you out on weekends to practice driving and she was the first person you told after you passed, even though your parents were kind they were very distant and always off on holidays but it never bothered you since you had your second family, what nobody at the nursery knew about you was that whilst working at the nursery you have been doing university courses in the evenings at the local university and was about to graduate with full marks and the highest degree you could earn, you had studied childcare but also studied teaching children with special education needs so you could become a SEN worker at the nursery.

You wanted to invite everyone to your graduation but you only had two extra tickets and you knew immediately who you wanted to invite but was worried they would say no to you, walking down the corridor to the office you knocked on the door before walking in when you heard 'come in' come from Marjorie and when you entered you saw the two people you needed to talk to in the room "is everything okay my love" you heard Marjorie ask you and saw Reece turn to you and saw him smile at you when he noticed it was you "yeah I was wondering if I could talk to you and Reece" you ask quietly and saw them both look at you with concern "its nothing bad" you explain quickly to them and saw them relax "sure my love come sit down" you heard Marjorie say and you walked over to the empty seat next to her and fiddled with your sleave "you okay Y/N/N" you heard Reece ask you which made you look up at him "yeah just not sure how to ask you both something" you admitted and looked between them both "your not about to tell us your making us 'grandparents'" you heard Marjorie ask which made you burst into laughter "no, it's nothing like that" you say once you stop laughing "okay that's good, so if it's not bad then I'm guessing it's good" you heard her say and you slowly relaxed when you felt her grab your hand and stroke the back of it. Taking a breath you looked at them both "I'm graduating from university next Friday and I was hoping you would both be there since I have two extra tickets" you ask nervously and looked at the floor "my love look at me" you heard Marjorie say to you and lift your chin to make you look at her "firstly we would love to be there and watch you walk across that stage and secondly we didn't even know you were in university, we thought you were leaving college" you heard her say to you which made you relax "my apprenticeship was with my university when I was 16 and has been for the last 2 years I skipped college all together and went straight to university at 14 but I had to wait to do my apprenticeship until I was 16 since I was too young" you explain and saw their jaws drop open in shock.

You was just sat there watching them process what you had just told them and after a few minutes you were just picking at the fluff on your top and was getting slightly bored "Marjorie, Reece you okay" you ask and wave your hand in front of their faces and saw them come out of their shock "you were 14 when you started university" you heard Reece ask you "yeah" you say with a shrug of your shoulders "it's not something I like to talk about, but I'm a bit smart" you say again and stood up "I need to head back to the room, but I will give you the tickets tomorrow" you say and leave the office and head back to the room you were working in with Sorscha.

Marjorie watched you leave the office and turned to her boyfriend "did you know she was doing university instead of college" she asked him and saw him shake his head at her "no, I thought she was in college, I'm shocked at what she told us but I feel like a proud dad" she heard him say and she nodded her head in agreement "I know, wait if she is invited us does that mean her parents are not going" she asked him and saw his face drop in realisation "I don't know, I have never met or even heard her speak of her parents" Reece told her and she thought back and realised she has never heard you speak about your parents either "I met her mum once but it wasn't a long interaction and well Y/N was a bit uncomfortable not in a bad way but more like she wanted her mum to leave" she told him before standing up "we should get her a graduation gift or something" she suggested and saw Reece nod his head "yeah but what should we get her" he asked her and she was stuck on that "I know she likes Harry Potter and she is into Lego" she told him and together they quickly come up with getting you new Lego and tickets to go Harry Potter world in London but they also decided to do a surprise party for you with the rest of the staff and arranged it in the group chat with the other staff members who were also shocked to find out you were graduating from university.
