Then there were three....

"Tom? The taxi's here. Where are you?" She called over her shoulder as she peered through the blinds into the street. It was a sunny day, as it had been for a couple of weeks. In the street and, like some cheesy romcom, in her heart.

She'd become a fixture at Tom's very quickly. Going home to work while he did his thing and coming back to stay while they did their thing.

That thing? Fall in love.

Despite the niggle there was something more she wasn't telling him, he'd realised that was nothing to fear. Whatever it was, it was something SHE feared. She would tell him as soon as she trusted him enough and nagging her was NOT the way to gain that.

"I'm here my love," he slipped his arms around her waist, pressing his half-naked body into her back, kissing her shoulder where it met her neck. He nipped the skin gently, the heat from hus mouth making her shiver and let out a breathy moan.

"Jesus Tom, you are a DEVIL!" she laughed a little and turned in his arms. "You promise you're not mad at me? Leaving you on a day we could spend together?" She looked up at him, chewing her cheek from the inside, pensive. "It's just, well, mum has been so good to me since... well, you know, John.... I don't like to postpone our meet-ups."

That much was true in its entirety. She'd left out the bit that her mum was bringing the girls for the day, just to give them a change and to reassure their mother that they hadnt been stolen by gypsies!

Tom kissed her tenderly, "its ok sweetheart. You go, have a lovely day and I'll see you tomorrow afternoon. Say hi to your mum for me. Maybe next time....?" He winked at her and she smiled, her heart clenching just a little. He was so sweet, and she was being so awful.

"Of course, let me just.. well... you know. Now, I have to go or that taxi will leave without me." She kissed him like she needed him to live, which in that moment, she did. "Tomorrow....."

As she trotted down the steps and into the cab, she turned and waved. The blinds hadnt moved, but she knew he was there. She only wished she could be certain he would always be there.....

The girls and her mum were already waiting in the house when she arrived. Theyd caught an earlier train as a surprise and oh boy, was it a surprise... to them all.

"Wheres mum?" Clare had asked suspiciously when they'd let themselves into the house. "Its cold. It's never cold, why is the heating not on?"

Flick's mum scrabbled for an answer, knowing full well what that meant. Inwardly she was overjoyed. Her little girl was living again. And with Tom Hiddleston too! Outwardly, she showed nothing. "Oh I expect Mum's just being mum. Since you two arent here, she just toughs it out. It IS summer after all dearie." She laughed and Clare rolled her eyes.

"But Graaaaan it's only 16C out there! This house is so old its like an icebox! And why is the mail unopened.... Where's ...."

Before Mini-Sherlock could do any more detecting, Jenny piped up. "Look she's here!" And pointed out the window. They abandoned their Gran and ran to the hall.

As the front door opened, they screeched "SURPRISE!!!!!" As Flick walked in and almost dropped dead in shock - and no small amount of horror.

"Girls! How lovely! What a surprise!" She opened her arms and they ran to her, wrapping themselves around her. She kissed their heads then looked up at her mum. Her mum raised her eyebrows hopefully and Flick grinned, silently mouthing 'kitchen' to her.

Hello's exchanged, Flick walked through to the kitchen and the girls went back to screeching in the livingroom, arguing about what to watch on tv.

Flick and her mum stood watching them for a minute then closed the door. They sat at the table and looked at each other, silent excitement obvious in both.
