Oden begged Shirohige enough to let him join Roger and help them on their adventure, which included taking his family with him: his wife and two children. Rayleigh and Roger were very excited to have babies on board again. On the other hand, Buggy and Shanks watched the scene from afar, a bit resentfully, while Kanae was even curious.
"How cute, I'll go over and see them," Kanae said to her friends and left.
"Kanae, do you like children?" Roger asked her and introduced her to the baby Hiyori he was holding.
The scene was interrupted by two of Oden's friends, their names were Nekomamushi and Inuarashi, they were from a different race called Mink. They both wanted to join as well, this sparked a small disagreement in the crew, since, coming from an enemy ship, they could not trust others so easily, but Oden was going to prove them otherwise.
They arrived at Jaya where they stocked up on provisions, Kanae and her friends accompanied Gaban and Oden, but Oden was doing what he wanted.
"The captain is going to kill him," said Shanks.
Gaban ran to him to get him to leave the civilians alone, Kanae, Shanks and Buggy went after him, they were helping him carry ingredients for something Oden needed. Although they had no bad intentions, they angered the civilians, who, armed, set out to confront them, although they looked more like criminals than civilians.
"Huh?! Is this village really outlawed?!"
"Gaban, they..."
"Hm..." Kanae leaned back a bit, her hands were busy with a box full of ingredients.
"Yeah, I guess they're not civilians after all."
"Buggy, Shanks!" Kanae dropped the box and lunged towards her friends to avoid getting hurt by bullets fired from a window.
The group scattered, the only one who remained was Oden, who took a grenade in the feet and detonated. Everyone screamed in concern for their comrade, but Oden was unharmed by the blast, surprising them and they were happy for him. Realizing that the people attacking them were not civilians, they set out to counterattack.
"I still need seaweed," Oden expressed his intentions.
"Seaweed?" Shanks asked.
"It's to make a good broth."
"What a weirdo you are!" Shanks laughed, followed by Buggy.
"Oden-san, I like you." Kanae laughed too.
After gathering all the ingredients, Oden prepared a feast for everyone, with food and drink, everyone celebrated before going to the city in the clouds: Skypiea. The only way they found to go to that island was by means of a water current that lifted them up to the sky, a dangerous and exciting experience.
"I'm going to die!" shouted Buggy, clinging to the mast.
"You're not going to die!" Kanae scolded him, holding Roger's hand.
Upon arriving, they were able to see with their own eyes the sky island, where they were greeted by Gan Fall, the god of the place. Kanae explored the island with her friends, and never left their side. In fact, they accompanied Oden on his own adventure. At some point, they all met up and reached Shandora, the city of gold, whose ruins are from an ancient civilization. There they found the golden bell along with a Poneglyph. Oden, the only one able to read the writing, revealed that it contained information about the location of an ancient weapon called Poseidon. After leaving a message, they ended their stay in Skypiea and continued their adventure.
Oden, Nekomamushi, and Inuarashi revealed that they also have a Poneglyph at home, but the red ones, which Roger needs the most to find the last island of the Grand Line. Before going after them, they had to stop for a moment at Water Seven to repair the ship and, in the process, greet Tom, who had built the ship for them. Everyone was happy to see him again, Kanae greeted him with a hug, although, since Tom was so big, she could only climb on him and hug him by the shoulder, just like Buggy.
They continued their adventures after everything was ready. Oden's son, Momonosuke, accompanied them on some adventures. They reached Fishman Island, where they met King Neptune, an old friend of Roger, whom they asked for the Road Poneglyph and he accepted. When they finished gathering the information they needed, they set off again.
As they approached Wano, Oden's wife Toki became seriously ill and was unable to continue the journey, so he stayed there with their children. Nekomamushi and Inuarashi accompanied them. They set sail to Mink Island to find the last Road Poneglyph and thus discover the last island.
As time went on, Roger felt worse and Shanks and Kanae became very worried about his health. At least, they managed to figure out the location of the last island, but Buggy also became ill.
"Only a child would catch a cold right before a big adventure" Shanks mocked.
"Shut up, I said I'm better now!" Buggy replied.
"Even when you're sick, you still have the energy to keep fighting..." Kanae sighed.
"You're red-faced and burning up, rest" Shanks suggested.
"Who are you telling has a big red nose?!" Buggy grabbed him by the shirt.
"I didn't say that!" Shanks grabbed him by the shoulders and they both started fighting.
"That's it!" Roger mocked.
"Fight, fight!" Oden encouraged them.
"Don't incite them, Roger, Oden!" Crocus scolded them.
"Enough, you two!" Kanae stepped in.
An extravagant treasure awaits me!" Buggy said trying to get up.
"Don't strain yourself, fool!" Shanks said as he held him against the ground.
"I think you're hurting him," Kanae warned him.
"I'll go too!" Buggy insisted and went to beg Roger.
Unfortunately, Buggy couldn't go, so Shanks and Kanae decided to stay with him to take care of him, after all, he is their precious friend.
"Buggy-jiro is making a fuss about it, but don't you guys care, Aka-taro, Shiro-hatsu?" Oden asked, the nickname he had given Kanae was because he knew about her secret with Shirohige.
"We already decided," Kanae said smiling and looked at Shanks.
"Oden-san, captain," Shanks turned around, "if one day we're going to go there, it will be aboard our own ships!"
Roger smiled and put his hands on both children's heads giving his approval and pride.
Leaving their young apprentices behind, Roger's pirates accomplished the impossible, they conquered the Grand Line, Captain Gol D. Roger became known as Gold Roger The Pirate King, even though he didn't like that name.
