Kanae resumed her journey to return to Shanks, it had been too long, she doubted for a while if she should, but she missed her beloved so much. She visited Rayleigh and Shakky again explaining the situation, they were happy that she was back and that her son was alive. After a few days of the coating being ready, Kanae left saying goodbye, arriving at Gyojin Island.

«It's been a long time since I've been here, it's changed a lot,» she thought to herself with a smile.

The Gyojin island turned out to be a paradise, the variety of fishman and mermaids was impressive, the food was exquisite, although the fishman were nervous around humans. She didn't hesitate to stay a little longer than necessary in case her father came to the island, since it was in his care.

"So... this place is protected by father," she said to herself looking at the Shirohige flag.

"What do you mean?" asked someone behind her who had heard what she said.

"Huh?" she turned quickly to see who it was. "You..." she was surprised, but at the same time horrified, it was a Shichibukai.

"Oh?" the Shichibukai was surprised at such a reaction. "Oh..." he realized. "You are Akagami no Hanayome," he said as if there was no problem.

"Aren't you going to capture me?" she took it easy.

"No, you said "father", didn't you? Are you a new crew member or a friend of the old man?"

"No, I think you heard wrong."

Jinbe changed his expression and threw a punch in the air, which seconds later Kanae felt a horrible pressure and decided to retreat, good decision or else she would get hurt.

"What was that?" she was shocked. "You don't use weapons? We'll go hand-to-hand then."

Kanae went against Jinbe and attacked him with a punch, Jinbe stopped it with his strength and threw Kanae to the air and attacked her with water drops at full speed, but with the Kenbunshoku Haki she could dodge them.

"I've seen you here for several days, are you planning to ambush the old man? He's not coming soon, but one call can make him come to protect his island," he threatened her.

"Don't do it, I don't plan to face Shirohige."

"Then you will face me."

Jinbe couldn't touch her with his faster attacks so he tried to get close, but he couldn't.

"You use Haki, besides you seem to read my thoughts."

"Come with everything," she challenged him.

Jinbe gave his best punch and Kanae instead of dodging it as she had done, she received it in the abdomen, and did not move, nor did it have any effect, Jinbe was horrified, he looked at her with surprise and could see in her an aura that resembled the one given off by Shirohige.

"Shirohige?"

"No..." she replied.

"You... what are you?"

"Human."

"Is not that, what is your relation with the old man?"

"I'll tell you if you defeat me, but I warn you, Fishman, your punches doesn't hurt me."

Jinbe got upset, it's true that the attacks didn't reach Kanae, however, her blows hurt him as if each one wanted to kill him, so he took it personally. The fight began to attract the attention of Jinbe's companions, they warned their captain that it could get worse if the civilians or the royal guard found out that a Fishman was fighting against a human on equal terms. Even so, Jinbe didn't give up, he hit Kanae with his elbow right in the nose, then she began to bleed.'"

"So you're not made of iron," Jinbe mocked.

"You win." Kanae smiled, wiping away the blood. "I don't want to get you into trouble, Fishman."

"What?" Jinbe was confused, he had even been offended.

"I am Shirohige's daughter, can you keep the secret for me?"

Jinbe immediately stepped back.

"The old man has no children of his own."

"I am, he doesn't know it, I've been watching him from afar waiting for the moment to tell him."

"I see," he said as he sat down. "The old man's family is my family, please sit down and let's talk," he addeed with a smile.

Kanae trusted and sat down with him to talk, they came to trust each other so much that they became friends, despite being a Shichibukai and a bounty pirate.

"Jinbe, would you teach me Gyojin karate?"

"You're already strong enough, Kanae."

"At least the basics, I feel I'm missing moves that Gyojin karate could give me."

"I understand, I can teach you some moves."

"That would be amazing," she smiled.

And that was how Kanae trained with Jinbe, she learned the most basic techniques of Gyojin karate to be able to defend herself better from the bounty hunters.

"Thank you, Jinbe," she thanked him before leaving.

"You have learned well, Kanae, I'm sure the old man will be proud of you someday."

"I hope so," she smiled at him. "I also hope Queen Otohime-sama can change everyone's mind."

Shortly after, unbeknownst to her, Queen Otohime would be assassinated.
