No one's POV:

It was now the start of October, and everyone was in a spooky mood. Fan was telling ghost stories that he got online (they weren't scary at all—they were just traumatizing), Silver Spoon was hanging up cobwebs on Paintbrush's locker (Paintbrush...appreciated it, I guess you could say), and Lightbulb was planning her Halloween costume. It was just your average Tuesday shenanigans.

"So I'm thinking, Painty—crab costume. You know, since I have a pet crab and all, and I just feel like dressing up as him will show how much I care about him! What do you think?" Lightbulb asked Paintbrush.

Paintbrush was, admittedly, still getting used to the nickname, but they liked it nonetheless. Fan and Test Tube were somewhere else at the moment, so they weren't accompanying them. "I think that's a good idea, but what store are you going to find a crab costume at?"

Lightbulb stared at them in disbelief. "Why, Walmart of course!" Lightbulb said in a manner that would've made sense if Paintbrush committed murder. "Walmart literally has everything! Don't you know?"

Paintbrush rolled their eyes, chuckling. Of course. Lightbulb always believed that Walmart had everything. "I'm just saying! What if it wasn't at Walmart?"

"Highly unlikely."

Paintbrush laughed again. Lightbulb was the living definition of silliness. Paintbrush didn't mind it though. It was nice to laugh with someone. "Well, everyone seems to be in a good mood." Paintbrush murmured, watching everyone laugh, talk, and show off costume accessories. "Is everyone here really this excited about Halloween? In my middle school, no one walked around with fake cobwebs in their hair and whatnot, or had Halloween events. It feels so strange."

Lightbulb's eyes widened. "Really? My school had all this and more! In fact, I heard a rumor that this Halloween night, Salt and Pepper are going to host a party at Salt's house. Are you going to go to that? I am!"

Paintbrush sighed. "I don't even have a costume planned, Lightbulb." Lightbulb placed a hand on their shoulder. It felt comforting to Paintbrush. "Then we'll think of one together! Do you have any favorite characters from any shows?" Lightbulb smiled.

Paintbrush thought about it. "No, not really. I don't exactly sit down and take the time to watch shows anymore, to be honest." Lightbulb thought a bit more. "Huh...okay, well, this is going to be difficult. Oh! I know! How about we both be crabs for Halloween?"

Paintbrush shook their head. "Nah, no offense, but I don't feel like twinning with anyone this year."

Lightbulb grumbled. "Come on, Painty, think! I'm all out of ideas! What's scary?" Paintbrush knew the answer almost immediately. He literally faced him every day. "Silver Spoon."

Lightbulb snorted. "Okay, something a little more scary. Like...uh...oh! Have you heard the legend of 'The Abduction in the Woods?' You should dress up as the monster!" Lightbulb squealed. "Perfect!"

"Lightbulb, I'm pretty sure almost everyone is going to dress up as that monster if the legend is popular."

Lightbulb shook her head. "No, no one will, trust me. They're too scared of the story." Paintbrush raised their eyebrows. "Okay, well, I haven't heard the rumor, can you tell it to me?" Paintbrush asked. Lightbulb smirked in a suspenseful manner, and started telling the story.

"Once upon a time, back in the 1980s, there was a man who went by the name of Ubulan Konami. Weird name, I know, but whatever. Anyway, he was a famous explorer in his time, but during his final exploration in which he would go into retirement afterwards, because he was a little old, he disappeared. His colleagues who were with him in the forest they were exploring didn't know what happened, but they heard a loud screeching noise before they noticed he was gone. Weird, huh?
