October 19th, Evening, Paper's POV:

"How do you keep beating me?" Pickle yelled at Knife, throwing down his controller. OJ yelled, "Hey, that's expensive!" and went to go pick it up, gently putting it back onto the TV stand. Knife was holding up an "L" with his hand.

"Okay, guys, maybe that's enough gaming for one day. Let's do something else!" I suggested, butting in between Knife and Pickle's argument. We had been playing video games for about three hours now, and tensions were pretty high. Pickle sighed, relaxing onto the couch. "Fine. But...what else do we do?" He asked.

OJ thought about it for a moment. "Hm...Paper, give me a cheese puff, I think better that way." He said, holding out a hand. I placed a cheese puff in his hand from the bag in my arms, and he chewed on it, continuing to think quietly. He suddenly jerked his head up, exclaiming excitedly. "I have an idea! We can maybe...explore my attic? I don't usually go up there since my parents don't really allow me, but...they're not home right now!" He said gleefully. Knife and Pickle agreed, though they were in the middle of a staring contest, so they didn't look at him.

After their little game was done (in which Pickle won), we went into the hallway, where the attic entrance was hanging above us. To OJ's fury, there was a padlock. "Damn it!" He yelled. Knife suggested that we look around to try and find a code inside the house. We split up, and I headed into the kitchen. I checked the little notes that were plastered onto the fridge, which were very neat and organized. There were also a few drawings here or there.

I focused mostly on the notes, since the drawings would be no help. I checked each and every one of them–nothing. I was going to give up and check another room in the house until, from the corner of my eye, I found it.

I picked up the note from the floor, and it contained the padlock code to enter the attic. 3-4-4-9.

"Hey, guys?" I called out to my friends. "I found the code!"

OJ entered the code into the padlock when we regrouped, and pulled down a ladder from the ceiling. "Aha!" He exclaimed. "Thanks, Paper. Now, off we go!" He climbed up the ladder with full speed, making all of us laugh. I climbed up last.

The attic was...dusty. Seeing as though I had a dust allergy, I needed to get back down into the hallway, but I didn't. Thing is, dusty as it may be, OJ's attic was interesting. It had multiple pieces of artwork, a few 80s clothing pieces here or there, things like that to remember the past.

"Whoa, check this out!" Pickle exclaimed, pulling out an old-fashioned camera. OJ chuckled. "Oh, yeah, that's my mom's. She used to take pictures with it all the time. I was wondering where it went...does it still work?" he asked. Pickle brought the camera up to his own eyes, and snapped a photo. Blinding white light filled the room, and I smelled smoke and dust.

Everyone coughed, and when the smoke cleared, a small photo was printed at the mouth of the camera.

"Oh, look!" Knife said, taking the photo. "Nice! A new item for my collection of goofy photos...just got to wait for it to develop..."

"Give that back!" Pickle said angrily, snatching the photo. He started shaking it to get it developed faster. OJ and I chuckled, but then we both heard a sound that made us freeze.

The sound of the front door of OJ's house opening.

"SHOOT! Guys, come on, no time, let's go back to my room...quickly!" OJ yelped, rushing out of the attic. "Paper, did you return the attic code to the fridge?"

"Yeah, I did!" I said, chasing after him to his room. Pickle and Knife quickly followed. We shut the door to the room, sighing with relief. OJ then panicked again. "Oh n—did we close the opening?"
