“Say, should we climb the tower to see how powerful your All Rounder Gift is?”

The second they went out of the Director’s office, Khan asked Moran to climb the Tower of Trial – which contained 100 levels and a boss monster every 10 levels – because he was curious about the extent of her Gift.

The tower of Trial was a specifically made training ground for ARK Academy students and the Gifted who wanted to hone their skills before they entered the dungeon and faced real life danger. The monsters would also regenerate every time a new challenger entered for those who wanted to level up.

Of course there was the pod option for first timers who were not able to control their power yet and preferred the comfort of virtual reality, but Tower of Trial was where your skills were tested – and raised – while getting great rewards from the treasure chests inside.

Moran had heard of the Tower of Trials before, but since she was not a Gifted, she was not able to enter it.

But now, she was also curious about a lot of things, so she agreed to Khan’s suggestion right away.

“I’m all in, but first, I’m hungry. I want to eat meat and alcohol.” She knew that there was a small eatery near the Association that normal people and the Gifted loved to come since the food was good, plenty, and cheap. And she liked the owner – an old lady with a mouth.

“Sure, why don’t we go to…”

“I know a place.” She cut Khan’s words. “It’s near here.”

Khan quirked his eyebrow with amusement and then he chuckled.

“Okay, let’s go then.”

They went down to the ground floor when suddenly they were surrounded by camera flashes everywhere, and Khan instinctively shielded Moran with his jacket.

Thankfully Moran was wearing a hoodie that she put up to hide her face and she took out a face mask and wore her sunglasses under Khan’s jacket. She didn’t want her face pestered all over the news since whoever wanted to kill her was still out there, and besides, she needed to stay low for her revenge.

“Khan! Khan! Is that the new EX rank Guide? Where did you find her? Please let us interview her!”

“Why did you monopolize the Guide? You should let her work at the Association!”

“Khan! I love you!”

“Khan! Marry me!”

The shouting got worse as they tried to leave, and someone even tried to pull Khan’s jacket to reveal her face, while the other tried to grab her away from Khan.

“This won’t do.” Khan gritted his teeth in frustration. He wanted to kill everyone who dared to lay their hands on him and Moran, and he was really tempted to do so when Moran suddenly grabbed his waist.

“Hold on tight.”

Khan was trying to ask her what she was going to do when she jumped above the hordes of paparazzi and took him with her, before she landed right in front of the front door and dashed through them – followed closely by Khan who laughed out loud as they jumped into the car they came in with.

The newest phone in her hand broke into smithereens when Jennifer Kim watched as Khan and his new EX rank Guide left the paparazzi behind and he was laughing out loud.

She had never once seen him laugh – not even a tiny smile, when she was around him – or even at any time he was out and got his pictures taken by paparazzis.

Sure she was not in love with Khan, but her pride had taken a beating from knowing that the barbarian could make a face like that and it was not because of her.

Her.

The only Saintess that everyone loved and adored.

Those chaebols even asked for her hand in marriage, but she refused because they were not as handsome or as influential as Khan and his family.

His uncle was the head of the Association and his cousin was one of the shareholders of the ARK Group – which dominated everything about the dungeon, the byproducts, the technology, and even the Gifted resources. They were giants in the industries and she wanted so bad to be a part of them for her own future.

In short, he was the only way out of this hell that she was in right now, just because she fell in love with Mikhail a long time ago and decided to follow him – not knowing that he would turn into a sadist and literally turn her into his slave.

She had learned since then that love was overrated, and money and power were the only things that could make her happy and free from all her shackles.

And the easiest way was through a marriage with Khan the barbarian.

Thank god his face was really good looking, and his body was like Adonis. Hell, she could do for less as long as she escaped the hell she was in.

But right now, the most important thing was to find out the identity of the Guide and get rid of her. She would make sure that Khan could only depend on her only and not some boonies from the countryside, so she decided to do the only thing she could do – give the job to the professional.

She quickly went back to her penthouse and rummaged through her hidden drawer to find the burner phone that she kept there for emergency and dialed the only number in it.

When the other line picked up, she quickly spoke into the receiver.

“The new EX ranked Guide. Find out everything about her and then get rid of her.”

The other party took their time to answer and she almost exploded from anger when they asked her a question.

“Since the rank is EX, we’re gonna need a lot more than the last time.”

She almost pulled out her own hair from frustration.

The last job was very costly but she needed it to be done to clear her path, and this time it was no different.

It had to be done.

“How much more?” She asked the man while gritting her teeth.

“Let’s see… since the last one was a B rank and this one is EX, we need 10 times more.”

She wanted to smash the man’s head onto the wall and screamed out loud, but she held back.

Ten times more than the previous one was equal to her salary from the Guild for 2 whole years, and since she was an avid shopaholic, she knew that she had to stop her shopping spree for at least a year and live off her commission only.

But then again, it was for a better future. Her better future.

“Half in front, the rest after the job is finished.”

“You can leave the deposit at the same place as before.”

The call was cut afterward and she had a headache coming that she knew could only be helped by doing some online shopping.

She opened her laptop and started to put everything that caught her eye into her cart and pressed buy before she entered her credit card details. Afterward, she took a bunch of sleeping pills with tequila and fell asleep as soon as her head touched her fluffy custom made pillow to fit her head perfectly with a mulberry silk cover that was specially made for her to prevent wrinkles – knowing that soon enough they would get rid of the obstacle on her path to happiness.
