okay so this chapter is 7167 words, maybe don't read this in a room where people can see your phone :)
It's been just over month. At first, the doctors said I'd only need to stay in the hospital for a week after I woke up. But they kept me in for three, running test after test. Now, I've been out for a little over a week, trying to get my life back together.
But I can't shake the feeling that something's missing. Something isn't right.
Valentina never came back to see me after that weird conversation we had in the hospital. It felt off, like she had something more to say but couldn't. And that's why I'm walking into Maison Valens right now.
I need to talk to her. To figure out what the hell is going on.
I push through the doors of the sleek, modern building, the scent of luxury lingering in the air as I make my way through the lobby. The place is immaculate, just like her. It screams power, control — everything that she embodies. But something tells me that underneath all that, Valentina's losing grip, and I need to know why.
As I step into the elevator, my mind drifts back to that conversation we had in the hospital.
"Are you going to be there?" Valentina asked, her voice soft but steady. She was sitting on the chair next to my bed, fiddling with her engagement ring.
"For what?" I asked, already knowing the answer but needing her to say it.
"The wedding," she said, looking up at me with those eyes I know too well. They were conflicted, hiding something deeper. "Even after everything that's happened... I want you there, Alessio."
Her words caught me off guard. It wasn't like we hadn't talked about her wedding before, but it felt different this time. Like she was asking me for more than just my presence.
I leaned back into the pillows, trying to process her words. "Even considering the circumstances?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "You know I still love you"
She smiled faintly, looking down at her hands. "I know."
There was a pause, a tension hanging in the air between us. Part of me wanted to say more, to remind her of everything we'd been through together. Of everything we could still be. But instead, I swallowed those words.
"I'll be there," I said quietly. "I'll always be there for you. No matter what."
Before I could say anything else, she leaned in and kissed me on the cheek. "Thank you," she whispered. And just like that, she was gone, leaving me more confused than ever.
The elevator dings, snapping me out of the memory. I step out onto the top floor, my heartbeat quickening as I head down the hallway toward her office. I need to see her, talk to her, and get the truth.
