As in the previous outing uzair bhai couldn't come , so he promised to take us beach and saud bhai is also accompanying us.My heart fluttered as i toes sank into the soft, warm sand. The beach stretched out before me but my attention was on my cousins and brother , laughing and splashing in the water.
And then there he was standing near the waves, the sunlight casting a golden glow on his face. The sound of the ocean felt distant compared to the pounding in my chest. I felt nervous, and a bit shy all at once. It wasn't just the beauty of the beach that made this moment special; it was being here with him. Every time he glanced her way, her heart skipped a beat, and she couldn't help but smile.
My smile faded as soon as my phone buzzed. I pulled it out, expecting another picture from my cousins or some random message. But the moment I opened it, my stomach twisted."I like that you are enjoying your life, Hoor."
What? My heart skipped a beat. Hoor? No one called me that. But this person who have been texted few times. I stared at the message, confused and unnerved. Who was this?
Before I could think too much, another message appeared.
"But for how many days?"
I froze, feeling the blood drain from my face. My fingers tightened around the phone. Who was this person? How did they know me? Whenever iam going out he is texting . I didn't know this person.
I quickly looked around, suddenly feeling exposed. Was someone here watching me? Why now? And what did they mean, "how many times"? The joy I felt moments ago disappeared.
I could feel saud bhai's eyes on me before he even spoke. I tried to keep my face neutral, but my hands were shaking. As soon as he got close, his voice cut through the sound of the waves.
"What's going on with you? You were fine a second ago."
My heart raced. I quickly shoved my phone into my pocket and forced a smile. "Nothing. I'm fine, really. It's just... my holidays are over."
He didn't buy it for a second. His eyes narrowed, sharp and demanding. "Don't lie to me, Amira. What's really going on?"
The way he looked at me made my stomach knot. I shifted my weight, trying to sound casual. "I'm not lying. I just have to go back to my dorm the day after tomorrow. That's all."
His expression hardened, and his voice dropped, tense. "You're leaving early? Why didn't you tell me?"
I swallowed, feeling like the air had grown heavy. "I wasn't sure until now. It's just college."
He stepped closer, his gaze intense and unrelenting. "You're not telling me everything. What's really going on?"
I looked away, unable to meet his eyes. The panic was rising inside me, but I couldn't let him see it. "It's just college. That's it."
But I knew he didn't believe me. And honestly, I wasn't sure I believed myself either.
———————That night, I knew I had to tell someone about the stalker. I thought of Ahad, my best friend at college. He'd understand.
I picked up my phone to text him but hesitated. This wasn't something I could explain over the phone. It was too serious, too unsettling. No, I needed to tell him face to face. Tomorrow was my last day here, and I couldn't leave without talking to him.
I'd meet him, tell him everything, and figure out what to do.
Uzair Bhai had asked me to go with him to an art gallery, and I agreed, thinking it would be a nice distraction from everything. But when we got there, I saw Saud Bhai walking toward us, joining us for the visit. My heart immediately skipped a beat.
I tried to focus on the art, on the beautiful paintings and sculptures, but every time I glanced at Saud, there was this spark. His eyes would meet mine for a brief moment, and I'd quickly look away, feeling the heat rise to my cheeks. It was like the air between us shifted, even in those crowded rooms.
The gallery was beautiful, but it was hard to concentrate on anything when I could feel Saud's presence so strongly beside me. Each glance we exchanged sent a flutter through me.
As I admired a painting, I spotted a familiar face across the gallery. It was Ahad. My heart lifted as he caught my eye and walked over with a smile.
"Amira . Assalamualaikum!" he called out.
"Walaikumsalam , Ahad!" I replied, returning his smile.
As I stood there with Ahad, I decided it was time to introduce them.
"Ahad, this is my brother, Uzair Bhai," I said, gesturing toward him.
Ahad smiled and extended his hand. "Nice to meet you, Uzair."
Uzair shook his hand. "You too, Ahad. Amira's told me a lot about you."
"Only good things, I hope," Ahad replied with a grin.
"Definitely," I chimed in, feeling a sense of relief that they were getting along.
I glanced at Ahad and said, "Hey, can we step over to the other side for a minute?"
"Sure," he replied, curious.
We moved to a quieter corner of the gallery. "I need to tell you something important," I said.
"What's going on?" Ahad asked.
"I've been getting these strange messages from an unknown person. They keep saying weird things, and I have no idea who they are."
Ahad's expression turned serious. "What do they say?"
I pulled out my phone and showed him the texts. "It's really bothering me."
He read the messages and looked concerned. "You should report it."
"I don't know who it is," I said, feeling frustrated.
Ahad nodded. "Let's figure this out together."
When we returned to the main area of the gallery, I noticed Saud standing there with a stern expression, his eyes fixed on me and Ahad. A knot tightened in my stomach.
Just then, Uzair Bhai's phone rang. After a brief conversation, he turned to Saud. "I have to head to the office. Can you take Amira home?"
Saud nodded, but his expression didn't soften as I climbed into the car.
As soon as we settled in, Saud turned to me, his tone sharp. "Who is Ahad?"
I glanced at him, surprised by the sudden intensity. "He's my best friend from college."
Saud's brow furrowed. "What does he mean to you? You seemed really close."
"He's just a friend,It's nothing more than that," I replied, feeling defensive.
He looked at me, his expression a mix of concern and irritation. "Just be careful. I don't like how he was looking at you."
I frowned, taken aback by his protectiveness. "You're overreacting. We were just talking!"
Saud's jaw tightened, and I could see the tension in his shoulders. "I don't want you getting mixed up with anyone who could be trouble."
His tone made me uneasy, but I didn't know how to reassure him. I could sense his jealousy, and it only added to the confusion swirling in my mind.
