 Ben was wasting his time on video games. It was a way he escaped from reality, a way he escaped from accountability.

He glanced at his phone.

He was waiting for Aurelia.

For the past few weeks of the holidays, he had been running after Aurelia with honeyed words and sudden kindness. She was abroad, with her family. She would be coming back. During the time they were apart, he had kept in touch with her.

He saw her as someone who could justify the wreck he was.

At one point he started flirting with her.

Soon, it started to rain outside.

His phone hummed.

It was a message from Aurelia.

'It's been ages since I last witnessed rain'

She was referring to how it was extremely hot in her hometown, and how it barely rained there.

Ben started typing.

"You're as hot as the sun, you vaporize the rain."

Shame on you, Ben.

If I remember correctly the sun is the sole fucking reason rain even exists.

The sun heats the surface of water bodies like the ocean, which results in the evaporation of gaseous water particles. Ever heard of aggregate states? Gosh, and you're telling me you chose chemistry as your major course? For fucks sake. Ok. Now you have the steam rising. Yet the higher these molecules get, the colder it is. So the particles now tighten and become more dense. The wind pushes these clouds to fuck knows where and once the cloud, the dense fuckery of steam, is filled with way too many particles that are very close against each other, the particles get pushed together to molecules, that means FLUID FUCKING WATER. THE LIQUID AGGREGATE STATE, YOU DIPSHIT. Only then is when a droplet falls and it is raining, and only then can any type of heat interact with the rain.

Plus, the sun can only get into contact with the surface of the cloud. The sun can't do SHIT about the droplets from within the cloud. What is the sun gonna vaporise there? Pretty sure it vaporised your intelligence.

Oh and there is a BIG DIFFERENCE between "vaporize" and "evaporate". Yeah. Vaporise describes a liquid turning into gas FAST. Like. Boiling water. Did you ever see an ocean BOIL FROM THE HEAT OF THE SUN???? And evaporate describes a liquid turning into gas in a more SLOOOWER speed. BELOW boiling point.

Evaporate might be the word you're looking for, hun.

That was not flirting. That was boasting of how much of a useless imbecile you are.

Aurelia had texted him, telling him about a funny story of how her hairdresser had gossiped with her and asked if she had a boyfriend, and how she replied with saying that she is too young.

"Do you want me to change that?", he typed.

'Are you trying to convince me to drink again?'

Ben pinched the bridge of his nose.
