There was something about the Outerbanks that felt like no other place on earth…

Kiara missed the saltwater, the taste of salt on her lips, the sun-kissed wind in her hair, the Outerbanks waves rolling gently over her legs as she sat bobbing up and down on her surfboard, watching the water that lapped out and drift back out to the shore… there was no better place to watch the vibrant sun-set skies drenching colors into the deep ocean water… here is where she would let her worries ebb away… let her worries dissolve into nothing, kind of like the salt of the sand that melts and fades away into the ocean currents… it was her little haven to be on her board… her slice of peace, where she could sort out her thoughts.. when there’d be problems- sometimes between the pogues, sometimes between her family... and sometimes maybe when she’d find it between herself and JJ.

She missed their little home back in the Outerbanks so much, she’d constantly find herself reminiscing absent-mindedly back to memories they’d left back at home… their little ‘makeshift’ shop, working together on the land, pulling their efforts together as a team… they’d formed a little tight-knit family… like they had in Poguelandia. Their simple life, their garden, their turf… everything the pogues ever wanted was in their hands, their slice of paradise and they’d finally done it…

And now they are here in Morocco, fighting to keep the shop, fighting to find Blackbeard’s treasure, with some frustrating tension building between them they hadn't had before… they were thrust into a new situation, a new land, fighting for their lives. They had no choice, the treasure would keep them afloat, and they had to do it- they had to find it… it would be what would save them, their shop, their livelihoods, what they had made for themselves... their home… but what’s even crazier- out of all of this!- what's more wilder?... what no one would have ever expected… is somehow… Kie was tucked into Rafe’s arms. Yes- and even Kiara knew it would be a far bigger challenge explaining ‘what this was’ to her friends than finding that damn lost gold no one had ever found. Was it her fault she was finding solace in his arms, a man that had committed some pretty dreadful crimes, caused a multitude of trouble for her friends, and continued to persistently pursue them endlessly… and they would just be ok with that?... Kie didn’t have to answer that, because she knew with certainity in her mind the answer… ofcourse, no they wouldn't.

Rafe plays with a curl that fell over her face, tucking the loose strand behind her ear.  Her eyes felt heavy… so much so, she was finding it hard to stay awake before the pogues arrived back with JohnB, Pope and Cleo after they'd been freed from Farras… so much had happened that night, her mind just felt hazy…

He felt warm, her body pressed against his side, and he pulls her closer in.

“You know, you and I could make a good team…” he cracks her a smile. “You, the one that snaps me into line.” He teases her, his smile curling wider. “And me… the one who’ll have to deal with that.” his smile breaks into a grin when she grunts, annoyed, and smacks him lightly.
He exhales, and expression turns more serious and sincere. “You can count on me, you know, Kie.” he says genuinely, in a low tone, stroking her cheek. He brushes his fingers, drawing circles lightly over her skin with a care that makes her heart pound and melt away in her chest all at the same time. Her smile widens, and she turns her face, her eyelids fluttering against the fabric of his shirt as she shifts around, her cheek pressing into his chest, her eyes begin to close.

“Kind of like… ying and yang?” she mumbles into his side.

“Yeah… something like that.” he smirks.

She quickly drifts off to sleep, her head buzzing with exhaustion, and she falls asleep with her nose pressed into his chest, and her head resting into the back of his arm.

Kie winces. Her arm flung over her eyes, and her neck a little stiff. She presses her fingertips into the side loosening the tense muscles in her neck. Her head felt a little fuzzy, the previous night felt like a blur. His shirt covered her upper half, but she felt the warmth of Rafe’s body gone
