vent (kinda)

So this has been bothering me all day, and I really need to talk about it cause omfg. (Also, sorry this is long, it's a vent kinda)

(Dw, I didn't get violently ass*ulted.)

So in English class, we're reading this book called "Ten Days In The Madhouse." And it's about this woman named Nellie Bly who's a reporter, and she pretends to be insane to purposely get herself put into an asylum. She does this so that she can write about the terrible living conditions of the asylum and expose the asylum for its abusive behavior.

But anyway, we're reading the book. And the teacher suddenly decided that we're gonna watch the movie along with it (even though the movie wasn't listed in the syllabus that our parents had to sign, which is illegal to do because it's TV-14)

We read a chapter every day and then watch the movie clip that goes with the chapter.

The school purposely cut out a chapter in the book where Nellie Bly (the author) wrote about her SA that happened. It was too graphic to show to minors.

But the teacher decided that she would let us watch that part of the movie. The part we weren't even supposed to read about because it was too violent.

She paused it right before the scene and said, "okay guys, a little warning. It's a little bit graphic, is that okay?"

Everyone said that it was okay, because she didn't give any actual details she just said it was "a little bit graphic." And as a teacher, I trusted that she wouldn't show anything that wasn't appropriate for us to watch.

(I'm giving an actual trigger warning this time, don't read what I wrote about the scene if you're sensitive to SA. They also used leeches on her.)

Anyway, Nellie Bly was dragged down to the basement of the asylum and tied down to a table by her arms and legs. They used leeches on her, they put them inside her v*gina, and then several men were left into the room to r*pe her one by one.

And the teacher thought that was appropriate to show us.

I'm literally writing an email to the office and I'm gonna tag her in it. I'm letting them know how inappropriate and disgusting it was for her to do that without proper warning and without parent permission. WHICH BOTH ARE ILLEGAL!!
