Maria was laying on her bed, scrolling through her phone, missing the good days back home. she stopped on a photo of her and her girls back in sugarhill, she remembered that day was a school event. It hit different being away from them, so she posted it on her Instagram story.

It wasn't long before her phone dinged with a message. Dd had replied, she was surprised
she read the message "word?".
Maria mugged at the response but responded anyway. this was not the typical dd, but it made sense why he would act like that. she was a bit down he didnt say "I miss you" or "come back," just "word."
Later, still in her feels about home, Maria found an old video of her and her girl dancing on the block in Sugarhill.

"relax its just a throwback we was havin fun" she replied back to him.

She put her phone down, staring at the ceiling. the streets of Harlem felt so far away, but even from across the ocean, the memories—and the people—were still with her.
