It was valentine's day she remembered that rel told her last night that he would be coming over.
Her phone buzzed— "damn this guy wont stop texting me"

Maria sighed, throwing her hair up in a cute messy bun and tossing on some sweats with a croptop. She wasn't trying to do too much today. Rel understood where they stood now, so she figured things would be chill.
An hour later, she opened the door to see Rel standing there with his usual grin, holding a small bag and a bouquet.
"broo i swear u be doin' to much" Maria said, laughing as she took the bouquet of flowers from him.
Rel shrugged. "what? cant i show my best mate a lil' love on Valentine's Day?" making maria smile.
They hopped in his car, cruising through the city with music playing low. It felt easy again, like they were back to being them. After a bit, they pulled up to the park by the river, the same spot as last night.
"you really love this spot, huh?" Maria joked, stepping out of the car.
Rel chuckled. "You know it's the best spot in the city."
He popped the trunk and pulled out another picnic setup—nothing too extra this time, just some snacks and drinks. Maria laughed, shaking her head.
"I swear you're tryna fatten me up with all this food," she teased, sitting down on the blanket.
Rel sat next to her, more relaxed today. "Nah, just keeping it simple this time. figured we could just chill."
And that's what they did. No pressure, no awkward vibes—just two friends hanging out. They talked about everything, from random TikTok trends to their plans for the weekend. Maria felt the weight from last night lift off her shoulders.
At one point, Rel handed her the small bag he'd brought. "Got you this. It's nothing big."
Maria opened it to find a box filled with the stuff shes always been talking about, skincare.
"omg rel... you remembered.." maria says almost tearing up but holding it in.
"you know i listen to everythin' u say" rel says smiling at her he knew she liked this smile by the way she reacts to it.
she hugs me tightly which got him off guard, but he liked it.
she breaks the hug and looks at him smiling widely.
As they sat there, laughing and talking like always, Maria felt relieved. Rel wasn't pushing anything—he understood where she was at, and that's all she really needed.
"you alright, yeah?" he asked after a bit, looking at her closely.
Maria nodded. "mhm, I'm good. better now, actually."
Rel smiled, his eyes soft. "told you, nothings changed. we're still us."
she smiled she never stop smiling since they arrived here. "alr now stop chattin' and lets continue eating" she said opening a new pack of her chupa chups.
he laughed at her seeing that she learned many of his british lingo.
this wasn't the Valentine's Day she expected, but it was exactly what she needed.
she wonders if life would stay the same it is right now. Or not.
