Jungkook's jaws were clenched tight as he formulated plans in his head.
First, he had to grab his car keys and go to check on Jackson himself. He could no longer wait until Jackson came to him. It was time to learn about his forgotten past, no matter how horrible and disgusting it might be. It was time to learn who he once was and also the debt he had yet to repay.
But the main problem was... where had he placed his car again? His mind screeched to a halt and decided to draw up a blank.
Jungkook halted in his tracks and pressed on his throbbing temple, grimacing. "Not now..." he murmured to himself. "Please don't cause trouble for me now."
Perhaps his broken brain finally took pity on him, Jungkook managed to draw some faint recollection after digging through his memory for a while.
The last time he had driven his car was... on his first date. After that, Ruan's accident occured and they had driven Jimin's car to the little guy's house. So if his memory had not failed him, his car ought to be in Jimin's house right now.
Jungkook clenched his fists out of frustration. Jimin and Jackson's house were the complete opposite from Seoul Hospital Center. If he returned to grab his car, then he would only waste more time on the road. Who knew what could have happened to Jackson in the meantime?
So hailing a cab, then.
Making up a decision, Jungkook continued to walk down the hallway, not realizing that he had brushed past a man in a wheelchair who was sitting on the balcony, half hidden by the thick billowing curtain. However, it did not mean that the other person did not notice Jungkook's presence.
As soon as Jungkook threaded past him, Ha-Eun pushed back his wheelchair and tilted his head, his gaze transfixed on Jungkook's back until the Alpha turned in a corner and disappeared.
His brown eyes were glittering in what seemed like thrill and anticipation, pale lips curving into a faint smile. Turning to his phone in his hands, he opened the one and only chat box and sent a message to the other person.
[He's on his way.]
A reply came in less than five seconds. [Roger, Boss! ><]
At the same time, KJ was grinning from ear to ear as he sent out that message. He raised his head, let the cool spring breeze ruffle his hair and took a deep inhale, smiling, "Hmm, the air is so fresh here! I like it so much!" He stared at the distance where the resplendent city lights twinkled akin to a sea of glittering stars, far and removed from the simplicity of countryside.
Along the stretch of the desolate road, the Black Buick was akin to a hibernating beast, the color merging with the darkness. On both sides were fields of wheats and rice as far as one could see. The air was crisp and clear, especially at night where the temperature would drop below twenty degrees Celsius.
Alas, no matter how long KJ immersed himself in this tranquility, he was still unable to tamper down the grin on his face. His whole body was buzzing with frenetic energy with nowhere to spend. He was so excited that he could run around the field twice and still laughed out loud along the way.
In the end, he chose not to do it, not only because he did not want to be taken as a lunatic and chased out by the people with pitchforks, he also needed to save energy for what was to come.
A lot, lot of energy.
A particularly cold gust caressed his skin and caused him to shudder. Rubbing his hands together, KJ finally conceded and slipped into the driver seat, relishing the warmth from the blasting heater. He grinned at Jackson beside him. "What did you say earlier? There's someone who can catch me now? Well, I have given them a chance. Let's see if they can do it, hmm?"
