71 - Fooled again

Jimin saved Jackson's house address to his notes and resolved to pay the man a visit once he got off work.

As minutes ticked by, he tried to give Jackson a few more calls only to end up in the voicemail every single time. Even the messages were akin to small pebbles sinking into the sea, unheard and unnoticed. Unease gradually gripped Jimin's heart like coiling vines and he became unable to concentrate on his work.

It couldn't be... right? Has something really happened to the crimson-haired doctor?

Because of his fierce exterior and explosive temper, Jimin had subconsciously thought that no real harm would come to him. But he had forgotten the fact that the one who had gotten into an accident was not only Jungkook, but Jackson as well. It meant... the man was not completely safe from the enemies' threat either..

There were still half an hour until he could get off work, but Jimin could not sit still anymore. He quickly finished his daily report, submitted it to Captain Kim and asked whether he could leave sooner.

In concern of the bandages around his neck, Namjoon had initially wanted to give him a few days off only to be rejected by the omega. Now that Jimin had personally come to him, he waved his hand and signed the man's leave of absence note in a flourish, then let him go under the curious and intrigued look of other officers.

"What do you think happened to Jimin recently?"

"I know right... We have been working together for years, but I have never seen him take any days off. Now he suddenly becomes so busy with personal matters and also... his neck..."

They glanced at each other and saw the same shining excitement in their eyes. 'Is it time? Is our division's one and only omega going to get married? Can we finally break the forever single curse?!'

Alas, because of their colleague's notorious reputation as a walking ice cube, nobody dared to go forward and asked him about it...

"Psst," Taehyung slid his chair to Hoseok's desk and nudged him lightly on the side. Hoseok blinked and cooperated by offering his ear.

Taehyung asked in a voice that only both of them could hear, "Let me ask you a casual question. Jimin's Alpha... Mr. Jeon, isn't it? What kind of person is he?"

As soon as he heard this question, a lightbulb was switched on in Hoseok's head and the gaze he directed toward Taehyung became extremely complicated. He fiddled with his fingers and let out an awkward laugh. "Tae... um, how should I say it? I know you're very handsome, masculine and skillful, and you're even a superior Alpha to boot, but interfering with another person's relationship is..."

Taehyung's expression went utterly blank. It took him two full seconds to realize that he had caused a misunderstanding. He was taken aback by this silly boy's overly active imagination and burst out in low chuckles. Unable to help it, he gently slapped the back of Hoseok's head and chided him, mirthful. "Just what are you thinking about? I don't have that kind of intention toward Jimin at all. Just take it as..." he rubbed his chin with a mysterious smile on his face. "...I am really curious on what kind of person can make Jimin like them."

"Oh, oh!" As long as it would not cause any potential office war, Hoseok did not have any qualms in sharing interesting gossip with his colleagues. He started to recount what he had observed so far, "Very gentle, kind, thoughtful, handsome, tall..." he scrutinized Taehyung and nodded. "En, just as tall as you, Tae. Well, as the saying goes, opposites attract like two poles of magnet. How cold Jimin's personality is, that's also how warm his Alpha is! He is just like your attractive neighbour next door, if you understand what I mean..."

Taehyung showed a curious look. "He's that great?"

"Uh-huh, if you meet him, then you'll surely know."
