"What's wrong, Tae?" Hoseok asked nervously once they were out of the house. He kept glancing back once in a while, looking so much like a mother who was reluctant to leave his son behind. "Why are you pulling me along? Hey, is it okay for us to leave Mr. Jeon alone? His complexion doesn't seem good..."

Taehyung offered him an exasperated glance. "Is that the thing you should be worrying about?"

"Then what?" Hoseok was genuinely confused. "I don't get it, Taehyung. Please don't speak in riddles, okay? Oh! Did you find something back in the house and unwilling to let Mr. Jeon see it and hence, you're asking me to come out with you?" Other than that, he could not think of any other possibility.

Taehyung was amused, helpless but mostly angry at how gullible this guy was. He abruptly halted in his tracks, forcing Hoseok to brake as well. He sighed at Hoseok's puzzled look. "Is that really Jimin's Alpha? The one you said is very gentle, kind, thoughtful, warm and attractive?"

Hoseok spent a split second giving Taehyung a thumbs up for remembering his mindless rambles down to the last details. Then he became even more confused. He really did not get where Taehyung was going with this. "Of course. Unless Mr. Jeon has a twin with the exact same personality, he is the person I was talking about."

"You..." At a loss of words, Taehyung reached out to flick his forehead. "Why are you such a fool?"

Hoseok covered his forehead and cried out, aggrieved. "And why are you such a meanie?!"

Taehyung clicked his tongue and said in a jest, "Obviously, I am helping you to see better." There was something else he did not say though. This little flick on the forehead was also the price for not telling him that the 'Mr. Jeon' whom they had always been talking about turned out to be Jeon Jungkook, the one whose name was written on case 510's crime scene!

All this time, Hoseok had always said Mr. Jeon this, Mr. Jeon that... how was he supposed to make the connection that Mr. Jeon's full name was Jeon Jungkook all along?! Imagine how shocked he was when Jungkook introduced himself for the first time!

Just which part of that person was gentle, kind, thoughtful and warm? Taehyung had always prided himself for being sharp and observational. As a superior Alpha, he was also gifted with a keener instinct that had saved his life countless times before. So far, Taehyung's instinct has never failed him. And today, as soon as he landed his gaze on Jungkook, the same instinct told him, 'This guy is dangerous.'

He could not seem to read Jungkook at all. He looked innocuous and harmless at a glance, yet he carried with him an extremely imposing and aggressive aura tinged with the faint scent of blood.

These two contrasts threw Taehyung out of the loop and he could not help but poke the man a bit. He deliberately asked accusatory questions in front of Jungkook to see what kind of reaction he would have and oh boy... as soon as those grim doe-eyes landed on him, all of the hair on Taehyung's body stood on its end and his Alpha growled restlessly, warning him that he might get himself into some serious trouble if he kept testing the waters.

So far, there was only one person who could give Taehyung such a terrible first impression—Phantom. And now, Jungkook was added to the list.

So, was this the reason why Jimin avoided him? Because of his Alpha? So did it mean that he knew something more about Jungkook? About why his name appeared in the crime scene and why did the police decide to forgo this piece of clue in the end?

Huh. Interesting...

"What do you mean by helping me to see better?" Hoseok huffed and puffed. "Excuse you, my vision is excellent!"
