Orm's heart felt like it was being twisted and torn as she prepared herself for the heartbreaking task ahead. She had invited Lingling over to her rented apartment, the only place she felt safe and comfortable enough to have this difficult conversation.

As she waited for Lingling to arrive, Orm couldn't help but rehearse the words in her head, each syllable like a dagger stabbing into her already wounded heart.

Finally, there was a knock on the door. Orm's heart leaped into her throat, her hands trembling as she opened it. There stood Lingling, her eyes shining with a mixture of excitement and curiosity, blissfully unaware of the storm that was about to hit.

Orm closed the door behind her, her heart aching as she turned to face Lingling, sitting on the sofa next to her. For a brief moment, she simply took in the sight of the woman she loved, trying to memorize every feature, every gesture, before she had to destroy everything between them.

Orm swallowed hard, her eyes stinging with tears that threatened to spill over. She knew this was the last time she would be so close to Lingling, the last time she would be afforded this precious intimacy. The thought sent a fresh wave of pain coursing through her veins.

"Lingling," she finally began, her voice quavering with emotion. "We need to talk."

Lingling's eyes widened slightly, a hint of concern creeping into her expression. "Talk?" she repeated, tilting her head. "What's wrong? You look so serious all of a sudden."

She leaned forward, placing a hand on Orm's knee. "You're scaring me," she said, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of her mouth. "What's going on, love?"

Orm's heart ached at the endearingly sweet nickname. She could feel the tears threatening to spill over, but she forced herself to remain strong. She took Lingling's hand in hers, her voice steady but thick with emotion.

"There's something I need to tell you... Something that's been weighing on my mind," she said, her gaze fixed on their interlocked fingers.

Lingling's expression softened, her eyes filled with warmth and concern. "Of course, you can tell me anything," she reassured Orm, her thumbs rubbing gentle circles over the back of Orm's hand. "You know I'm always here for you, no matter what."

Orm's heart felt like it was shattering as she looked at Lingling, so caring and supportive in spite of the pain Orm was about to inflict upon her. The weight of the situation was immense, and she almost reconsidered, almost let herself believe that they could find a way through any challenge together.

But the harsh words of Mrs Kwong echoed in her mind, and Orm knew that she couldn't back down now. She took a deep, shaky breath before continuing.

Orm swallowed hard, taking a deep breath to steady herself before continuing. "I... I don't think we can be together anymore," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. She couldn't bring herself to look at Lingling's face. The pain and hurt that would be written there was too much to bear.

Lingling's breath caught in her throat, her eyes widening in disbelief. "What...?" she exclaimed, her voice cracking. "What do you mean we can't be together anymore?"

She leaned in closer, her hand still grasping Orm's, desperate for some sort of reassurance, some hint that this was all just a cruel joke. "Is this... is this one of your terrible attempts at a prank? Please, tell me it's not real..."

"I don't understand," she repeated, her voice cracking on the last syllable. "We were happy, weren't we? What changed? Was it something I said or did?"

Tears streamed down her cheeks as she looked at Orm, searching for some hint of an explanation, some glimpse into the reasoning behind this sudden upheaval. "Please, tell me what's wrong," she pleaded
