Chapter 13

(Flashback: five years ago)

Lingling and Orm sat side by side on a worn wooden bench, surrounded by the tranquil serenity of the park. A row of towering trees provided ample shade from the sun, their leaves rustling softly in the gentle breeze. The lush green grass was dotted with patches of vibrant wildflowers, their cheerful blooms swaying in the soft murmur of the air. Though they were ostensibly there to study for their upcoming final exams, their focus kept shifting, the allure of each other's company proving all too distracting.

"I can't believe our final exams are coming up already," Orm groaned, flipping open one of the books. "I feel like I'm going to fail everything."

Lingling chuckled softly, her gaze never leaving her own textbook. "You won't fail," she reassured her, a hint of amusement in her voice. "You're too smart for that."

Orm stuck her tongue out at her. "Easy for you to say, you're a genius. I'm struggling to keep my head above water here."

Lingling smiled affectionately at Orm's display of youthful petulance. "Stop that," she teased, nudging her playfully. "You're just as smart as I am. You just get more easily distracted than I do."

Orm feigned mock outrage at Lingling's comment, her expression a mix of pretend hurt and amusement. "Hey now, I do not get easily distracted," she protested, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of her lips. "I just find it more productive to multitask. Studying and admiring your beauty. Two birds, one stone."

With a fond smile, Lingling turned her attention to her own textbook, burying herself in the words and diagrams on the pages. She was determined to study efficiently. As she refocused on her studies, Orm pouted a little, unhappy that her attempt to distract Lingling had failed. But she knew her girlfriend was serious about her studies and respected her dedication.

Orm couldn't help but sneak a few glances at Lingling, her gaze lingering on her concentrated expression and the way she bit her lower lip slightly when she was particularly engrossed in her studies. It was endearing, the way Lingling was fully absorbed in her work, but Orm found herself yearning for a bit of attention.

Unable to resist, Orm let out a soft playfull call "Lingling Kwong~" she said, her voice a mix of coyness and a hint of demand.

Lingling's head shot up at the sound of her full name leaving Orm's lips. Even after their two years secret relationship, there was something about the way Orm said it that sent tingles down her spine every time.

She met Orm's gaze, feigning annoyance. "Yes, Orm?" she asked, her voice a mix of irritation and fond recognition. "You have my attention. What do you want?"

Orm's eyes sparkled with affection as she looked down at Lingling, a playful smile spreading across her face. "You know, you look incredibly cute when you're studying," she said, her voice filled with a hint of flirtation. "Watching you become a brainiac is just about the sexiest thing I've ever seen."

Lingling's cheeks heated up at Orm's words, her heart picking up its pace in her chest. She swatted at Orm's shoulder lightly, the hint of a smile tugging at the corner of her lips. "Oh, shut up," she muttered, trying to maintain an air of nonchalance. "I'm just trying to study here. You're distracting me."

Orm smiled slyly as she saw how her words were affecting Lingling. Wanting to tease her further, she began to sing softly, her voice filled with affection.

"I... have been falling for you...over again and again...on a loop," she sang, her eyes locked on Lingling's face. "Oh, you...look just like a goddess.. straight out of heaven... too good to be true..."  

Despite her attempt to remain composed, Lingling couldn't help but flush even deeper at Orm's singing, her heart racing even more frantically in her chest. She glanced around, acutely aware of the fact that they were in public, but also unable to deny the effect Orm was having on her.
