Anxiety gripped Orm to the core as she realized Lingling was unconscious. Her mind went blank for a moment, as she kept on repeating her pleadings like a mantra.

With trembling fingers, she fumbled with her phone, and dialed the local emergency hotline.

"1669, how can I assist you?" The dispatcher's voice filled her ears, grounding her and focusing her mind.

Orm's voice quivered, her distress evident. "Please, I need help. I found my 'friend' unconscious. She's not breathing. We are at 'Sweetness' bakery... please, send an ambulance quickly."

The dispatcher on the phone maintained a professional tone as he responded. "Okay, ma'am, stay calm. We're sending assistance your way. Can you check her breathing and pulse? Is she responsive?"

Orm's attention was split between speaking with the dispatcher and checking on Lingling. Her fingers shaking ever so slightly as she pressed them against Lingling's neck, feeling for a pulse, but her heart wrenched at the faint but unsteady heatbeats beneath her fingertips.

"Her heartbeat, it's... it's weak, and her breathing is shallow," Orm's voice wavered. "She's barely breathing, please, hurry up!!"

The dispatcher's voice remained calm, trying to comfort Orm through the phone. "Stay strong. We've dispatched an ambulance, and help is on the way. You're doing great. Just keep an eye on her and stay on the line with me. They should be there in a few minutes."

Despite his reassurance, Orm felt tears prick the corners of her eyes. She clung to the phone, her gaze fixed on Lingling, watching for any sign of improvement, however small. "Come on, Linging, hold on for me..."

After what felt like eternity, Orm heard the loud sirens approaching the bakery. She immediately dashed to the entrance, flinging open the doors as a team of medical professionals rushed in. "She's in the back," Orm said urgently, her voice hoarse. "Hurry, she needs help."

The medical personnel quickly set to work, hooking Lingling up to an IV. One of them placed an oxygen mask on her face, while another checked for any signs of brain activity. The bustle of activity felt agonizing to Orm as she stood by, watching anxiously.

"We need to get her to the hospital ASAP," the medic announced.

Orm's heart hammered in her chest as she watched the medics secure Lingling on the stretcher. As they prepared to move her out of the bakery, Orm followed closely, unwilling to leave her side for even a moment.

"Can I come with you?" Orm blurted out, her voice filled with pleading. "I need to be with her."

The medics glanced at Orm, sympathetic to her concern. They didn't hesitate, gesturing for her to join them in the ambulance. "Yes, you can join us."

Orm wasted no time, hurrying into the ambulance and sitting next to the medics, her hand reaching for Lingling's, holding on tightly to the limp hand, fingers firmly interlaced as she silently prayed for her with every fiber of her being.

With every bump and turn of the ambulance, Orm's fear gnawing at her grew louder. She tried her best to stay calm, but her mind was a torrent of worry, playing out every imaginable worst-case scenario. Would Lingling be okay?

Orm couldn't bear the thought of losing her, not again. Not when she thought she was a few steps away from having Lingling back.

The ambulance finally pulled up to the hospital, the medics swiftly wheeled the stretcher out, urgently transporting it into the emergency room. Orm attempted to follow suit, but the nurses at the entrance held her back.

"Sorry, ma'am," one of the nurses said, trying to sound as soothing as possible, "but you'll have to stay here. The doctors are tending to her now."

The nurses's words barely registered as Orm tried to push past, desperate to be by Lingling's side. "No, I need to be with her," she tried to plead, her voice cracking with the weight of her emotions.
