Months had passed since Lingling and Orm's college graduation, and their lives had taken on a new chapter. However, Lingling's mother, who had been secretly stewing on a plan to end the relationship between her daughter and Orm, had been tirelessly preparing for the right moment to strike. She knew that patience and precision were crucial to ensure a successful outcome.

Mrs Kwong took a deep breath and squared her shoulders as she heard the doorbell ring, signaling Orm's arrival. She had been waiting for this moment, and now it had finally come. She carefully made her way to the front door and opened it with a seemingly warm smile plastered on her face.

"Orm, dear," Mrs Kwong said, her voice dripping with false sweetness. "It's so nice to see you. Please, come on in." She stepped aside, gesturing for Orm to enter the house.

Orm smiled warmly and entered the house with a nod of thanks. Mrs Kwong closed the door behind her and led the way to the living room, gesturing for Orm to take a seat on the couch. As Orm settled into the comfortable confines of the couch, Mrs Kwong took a seat across from her, a calculating expression on her face.

Orm shifted on the couch, casting a curious glance at Mrs Kwong. She had expected to see Lingling, but her absence seemed a bit odd. "Where's Lingling?" she asked, a hint of concern lacing her voice. "I thought she would be here."

Mrs Kwong's smile tightened imperceptibly at Orm's question, but she quickly composed herself and answered. "Oh, Lingling is at the gym," she replied, her tone casually dismissive. "She's been very dedicated to her fitness lately. It's been all she talks about."

"She should be back soon. But I actually wanted to have a little chat with you before she returns."

Orm raised an eyebrow, a mixture of curiosity and wariness in her eyes. It was unusual for Mrs Kwong to want to talk to her alone, without Lingling around. "Sure," she replied, her voice carefully neutral. "What did you want to talk about?"

Lingling's mother sat across from Orm, her face stern and her voice cold. "I'm not going to sugarcoat it," she began, her eyes fixed on Orm. "I don't approve of your relationship with my daughter."

Orm was taken aback by Mrs Kwong's abrupt words. She had assumed that their relationship was relatively discreet and that perhaps Mrs Kwong was not aware of the true nature of their connection. The revelation that Lingling's mother not only knew but also disapproved came as a surprise, and she struggled to maintain her composure.

"I... see," she said, her voice wavering slightly. "May I ask why you don't approve?"

Lingling's mother leaned forward, her eyes locked onto Orm's. "You're not good enough for my daughter," she stated bluntly.

Lingling's mother continued laying into Orm, her voice growing more scathing. "I've already planned out my daughter's future," she said, her tone matter-of-fact. "She deserves a good husband, someone who is on the same level as her in terms of fortune and power."

Orm's heart sank with each word that left Mrs Kwong's mouth, her heart aching at the harsh judgment and dismissal of their relationship. It took all her restraint to keep her emotions in check as the mother continued to lay into her.

"Lingling deserves a partner who can provide for her, someone who can offer her the luxuries and lifestyle she deserves. Not someone like you, who will only hold her back and drag her down."

Lingling's mother's expression hardened further as she continued to berate Orm. "Not to mention, this whole situation is completely unnatural," she spat, her disdain evident. "A relationship between two women? I don't approve of that kind of lifestyle. My daughter knows that."
