Y/N's thoughts had been preoccupied. Constantly having the events of her dream replay over and over in her head. She sat in her office, and stared at the blank worksheet for almost an hour.
She sat silently in the swivel chair behind her desk. The end of the pen she hand in her hand was being held between her teeth, unconsciously biting on it as the scenes of her dream replayed itself—the feeling of his lips on hers, his warmth filling the cold void she found herself in.
Everything, from his kisses to his touch were vivid and real, even though it was just a dream.
Just then a familiar freckle faced lady walked in. She saw her best friend frozen in her seat with a smile on her face and her eyes too distant in thoughts. Tara tilted her head to the side and walked over to Y/N.
She stared at her friend for a little while longer, who was still very unaware of her presence.
Tara laughed quietly, then poked Y/N's shoulder.
While still deep in thoughts, Y/N finally felt a gentle but persistent poke on her shoulder. She jolted out of her daydreams and looked at the person beside her. Tara looked down at her with a mix of curiosity and amusement.
"Hey...you okay?..." She asked with a slight smirk on her lips.
Y/N quickly removed the pen from her mouth and placed it on the table, trying to act "normal".
"Uhm–yeah I'm–" She paused for a bit.
"I'm fine."
Tara tried her best to hold back the laughter that bubbled in her guts. She could see the nervousness in Y/N's eyes and she knew just why she was so nervous.
"Oh yeah?...what're you thinking about then?"
She asked, her smirk finally reaching her eyes. Y/N looked away, knowing all too well what her friend was going to say.
"Nothing..."
"Oh? But your face is red," Tara fake gasped and leaned over the desk.
"Could it be you're missing your "bad boy romeo"?" She asked. Y/N snapped her gaze to the young lady, then shook her head almost too quickly.
"Tara..."
"Don't lie to me Y/N. You've been out of it all week. Don't think I didn't see you spill milk tea all over yourself at the food court," Tara responded.
She only stayed quiet. Everything Tara said was correct. Ever since she had that dream, she's been all over the place. Not getting work done, which led to over time, not getting enough sleep and being extra clumsy.
Y/N was beyond grateful that she hadn't gotten any wanderer based missions, in the passed 3 months, but she also hadn't seen or heard from Sylus in those 3 months. She could hardly focus.
Tara sighed.
"Some of our colleagues invited us to an outing–"
"Team building?" Y/N interrupted.
"No. More like a fun activity kind of thing."
Y/N swiveled in her chair. She nodded as Tara plopped down on her desk, the teasing smile on her face replaced with an anxious look.
"Come with us. Get your mind off whatever is bothering you..." She said almost as if she was pleading.
Y/N took a moment to ponder. She would be punishing herself if she didn't go along with them and besides she needed the break, away from the office, wanderers and that dream.
