Chapter 7

|SAME DAY- SUNDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER 2023|

Ross gets to her house and knocks on the door. No answer. He wonders maybe she is out. Sighing he walks back to his car and drives home.

He parks the car when he his phone buzzes a text from Ryland.

Laura came by looking for you. You still at her's? I'd stay there and wait for her she's on her way.

Ross The Boss 💛

No I came home there was no answer. I'm going to drive back.

RyRy 😈

Good luck bro, just stay friends yeah tours coming up and she has a boyfriend. I repeat she has a BOYFRIEND! And you and Indie.

Ross sighs and drives back to Laura's.

It's now nearing 5pm, her movie is finished. Laura picks up her ipad and starts scrolling through her socials. Her peace and quiet is interrupted when her door rings. She knows it's Ross.

"Hi" She says almost in a whisper opening the door to him.

"Hi can I come in?" He questions.

"Yeah. Want a drink? I do have a bottle of red wine already open I can grab a glass for you?" She questions.

"Um Yeah sure" He says as he waits in the hall for her to grab her glass and the bottle. She walks back into the kitchen as he follows her wordlessly.

"So" She says pouring the wine into his glass.

"You and Indie?" She questions.

"Me and Indie?' he asks her confused.

"Yeah the girl you met in Paris on tour. The reason I don't trust you. What are you guys? Thought you're not looking for a committed relationship at the moment? One of the many reasons we never got together back in February?" She questions. So is this the time they are finally going to be open about their almost relationship and feelings he wonders.

Ross sighs "me and Indie are just friends well maybe more than I don't know. We have had sex but I don't know I'm confused too" He sighs deeply.

"hmm" She says sipping her wine as she leans on her elbows on the kitchen counter.

"Are we going to admit we were more than friends? Maybe even label our relationship? Or that we were in one?" He asks her. He needs to know.

"We we're together. We were good together. I got scared. Scared of the hate that we could have received. Too scared to loose you" She admits. He almost doesn't hear that bit as Laura whispers it.

"If we've done everything we've done and I'm still here does that not show you? I'm always here you can't loose me, Laura I think I love you" He says finally. The three words he's been wanting to say for over a decade. He's finally said it. He watches her brown eyes trying to figure her out. He's frustrated he can read her like book until it comes to her feelings and their relationship.

Laura stands up properly as she places her glass back on the counter. Ross walks towards her as he cups her cheek with has hand.

"I love you Laura" He whispers again moving a piece her hair off her shoulder as he caresses her cheek.

"Ross" She sighs softly grabbing his hands as she intertwines them with hers.

"I'm with him. We tried. We're about to go on tour also Indie" She sighs again.

"Why do you keep trying to push us away, why are you scared. I know it's hard with tour and with me always on tour but I'd try. I'd try so fucking hard Laura. I'm in love with you, I need you" Ross whispers feeling his heartbreak again.

"Look Ross, I I can't trust you, I'm scared, I'm scared of the pressure of being your girlfriend, hate from your fans, we're friends. Only best friends. We need boundaries like I started saying the night we nearly kissed. No more forehead/temple kisses, only cheek, no more sharing beds, no more almost kisses. We can't I'm in a relationship, you have feelings for Indie too. We can't" she pauses. Looking at him with sadness in her eyes.

"I do but I love you, I need you" Ross whispers again.

"Ross I think you should go, we need space to figure things out. Please" she says tears now running down her cheek.

Instead of leaving which he thought he should do Ross wraps his arms around Laura's shoulders. She feels herself crumble with his touch. Her walls are breaking down. Turns out maybe Laura needs Ross too. Maybe she needs space. Why is it so confusing and complicated. Even more complicated now if they are admitting they are exes and were together before people and emotions got in the way. So did they break up? Maybe that's why it hurts so bad too.
