Chapter 20

|TUESDAY 13TH AUGUST 2024 - BERLIN GERMANY |

Ross sighs as he lies down in his bunk it's been an exhausting day of press and he hasn't been able to keep his eyes of Laura. Fuck he probably looks like a perv in all their interviews and fans will probably tease him again. 

Over the last week their friendship has been slightly awkward again. Almost too many almost kisses or accidental touching. It's been confusing his brain. Does he like Laura again? Did he ever stop liking her or loving her? Does she really like him? He shakes his head as he takes his phone out he scrolls through photos he's taken today. He sees one of Laura. Would Indie be mad if he posts it? 

Surely not him and Laura are friends, it's normal to post pictures of your friends. Laura looks adorable in it he has to post it.  It was just one of her at a café they went to before their first interview of the day.  She was sitting opposite him and rested her chin on her hands as she smiled at him cutely and he couldn't not take a photo of her. His adorkable best friend. He posts it captioning 'pre interview coffee' and mentions her. 

They haven't really given fans much content apart from on stage so he's done it for their sake. He checks the time on his phone 11pm he wonders if Laura is still awake. He decides to text her even though she is in the bunk next to him. He needs to talk to her.  

Ross 

You awake? x 

Laura picks up her phone as it buzzes. A small smile makes it's way on her face. 

Laura 

Yeah, why? You ok? x 

Ross 

Can we talk?  x

She wonders whether she should get up. Is this him realising he has feelings for her and has notice her subtle flirting with him and all the accidental touching moments. He's with Indie though. She reposted the picture of her on his story earlier maybe Ross has been thinking of her. That's it she thinks. She can't just lie here she'll be tossing and turning all night otherwise. She opens the curtains and climbs down from the bunk. She sees Ross' curtain open and assume he's already in the back of the bus. 

Sure enough he is sitting there with his journal in his hand writing away. 

The blonde turns his head when he hears the door open. He smiles softly at her and gestures towards the couch for her to sit down.                    

"Hi Ross, are you ok" She says softly as she places her hand on his knee. 

He looks up at her. 

"We need to talk" 

"Um ok?" Laura says confused. 

"Do you like me?" He asks bluntly. She's shocked. It takes her awhile to process what he said. 

"Um no, we broke up I moved on" Laura stammers. 

"Laura" Ross says reaching out to hold her hands. He rubs his thumb comfortingly over her knuckles. 

Laura sighs. Guess she needs to tell him the truth. 

"I still like you I don't think my feelings went away, which is why I had to end things with Ross, but you're with Indie and if you're really happy with her then I'm not going to get in the way, you deserve to be happy with someone like her" Laura says standing up as she walks away from him. Ross stands up immediately grabbing her hand he pulls her towards him. 

"Stop running away from me, from this'' He says gesturing his hand between the two of them. 

He lifts his hand to her cheek and cups it before twirling a piece of her hair in his fingers.  

"Laur, look at me" He whispers. He places a finger under her chin and makes her lift her head to look at him. 

"I don't think I ever stopped liking you" Laura stares at him shocked.  

"Indie" She says feeling tears well up in her eyes. 

"I know, I'm sorry Laura" Ross whispers 

"It just sucks our timing, but you're with her, it's ok if you like her you stay with her. Ross were friends we will always be friends" Laura sighs as a tear trickles down her cheek. She wraps her arms around his neck as he wraps his around her shoulders pulling her closer towards him. She buries her head into his chest. As Ross rocks them side to side.  

After a few moments they let go. 

"So" Laura says unsurely. 

"So I like you and I like Indie, I'll figure it out, I promise, I have to I can't and don't want to break your heart again. I can't do that" Ross says as he intertwines his hand with hers and rubs her hand with his thumb comfortingly. 

"Ross, I just want you to be happy, if your happy with Indie stay with her you can't break her heart either she is a really nice girl. I'll be fine, I'll just have to move on again from you" Laura shrugs her shoulders. 

"What if I don't want you to move on from me, god I feel like Austin when he liked Ally and Kira. Fuck. I'm so sorry Laura" He says as he leans in and kisses her cheek. 

"It's ok it's my fault too, like we said maybe I should just not have been so scared not to label us in the first place and this would never have happened. Ross you'll figure it out" Laura sighs as she kisses his cheek before walking away back to her bunk.
