A young girl around 12 watches her city get destroyed by a huge monster. The African American girl looks afraid. She starts to cry. This has to be a dream... right?
12 year old Hazel Wells then notices a boy around the same age as her. He had orange spiky hair. She also noticed that he was wearing shades as well as an unusual outfit.
"That's horrible..." She cries. She couldn't bear to see someone get hurt. Even if she didn't know him at all, she somehow felt connected to him.
"There is nothing you can do about it. It is too much for him to handle alone. But, he did acknowledge that before he chose to fight." An indigo creature informs her.
Hazel notices the boy wincing in pain. The girl couldn't handle watching him fight anymore. "Please! Make this stop! I don't want him to get hurt!"
"It will be all over when he gives up... but... you have the ability to change his fate. This unavoidable destruction and sorrow... you can change it all. You have the power to do just that." The creature informed her.
Hazel looks at him. "Can I actually stop all this..? Can I really change how this all ends?" She asked him.
"Of course you can! Just make a contract with me and become a magical girl!"Hazel then woke up to her alarm clock. She sighed in relief. That nightmare was over. She decides to get ready for school. She soon goes downstairs to meet her parents. There were four seats, but one was empty. She knew her older brother was at college, but still felt lonely at home. But, her friends were there to make her happy at least. She starts to eat her breakfast.
"What's new for you at school?" Angela, her mother, asked her.
"Well, Bev got another love letter. That's the second one this month." Hazel replied.
"If he can't say it to her face, then he's not worth it." Angela replied. "And how is your teacher?"
"Mr Guzman? He's doing fine. He's happy with his girlfriend anyway. This week is their third month anniversary." Hazel informed her mom.
"Well I hope they can make it. They are at a critical state in their relationship." Angela
"They are..?" Hazel asked.
"If it isn't the real thing, they might start to have some problems real soon. If they can get through those obstacles then they should be fine for a year." Angela told her daughter.
"Ohh..." Hazel sighed.
"Angela, you need more coffee?" Marcus asked her wife.
"I'd better not..." Angela answered. "I have to get to work now." Angela then said goodbye to her husband and daughter. She then left the kitchen to go to work.
Hazel then finishes her breakfast. She gets her backpack and puts it on. "Bye dad! I'm off to school." She said as she left the house. She wanted to meet up with Jasmine and Bev before school started. She starts to leave the apartment. She starts to walk towards the school. She soon noticed her friends walking towards the school. She runs towards them. "Hi Jasmine! Hi Bev!"
"Good morning Hazel!" Bev greeted her friend.
"What took you so long? Is that a new shirt? It looks amazing!" Jasmine told her.
"My mom told me if that a boy can't tell you that he loves you to your face that he's not even worth your time." Hazel told her friends.
"Your mom is so cool! She's smart, gorgeous, and successful!" Jasmine complimented Hazel.
"If only I could make up my mind as easily as that..." Bev told her two friends.
"If only everyone could have your problems." Jasmine joked.
"I wish someone would send me a love letter sometime." Hazel daydreamed.
"Oh now I get it. You want to be cool and popular as Bev, don't you now? I bet that's why your wearing that new shirt to change your image." Jasmine told Hazel.
"That's not true! My mom bought this shirt for me!" Hazel defended herself.
"You tricked your mom into telling you the secret of being popular, didn't you! Well, I'm not going to let that happen!" Jasmine told her. She started to chase her friend. She soon hugs her friend. "You're cute, but I won't let you be popular with the boys. You're all mine!"
"Ahem..." Bev clears her throat, startling Hazel and Jasmine back to reality. They suddenly realize the shocked expressions from the students around them."15 minutes later, the three arrive to their class. Mr Guzman looked like he had an announcement for his class.
"I have something of utmost importance to discuss with you all today, so please pay close attention." Mr Guzman looked very upset. "The correct way to fry an egg should be sunny-side up or down?" The teacher looks at a student. "Come on April I don't have all day!"
"You can fry it either way, can't you?" April answered.
"Yes, either way is fine. And if you think a man's value is determined by how he cooks his eggs, then you are horribly mistaken!" He looks at his class. "Anyway, we have a new student joining us. He was moved to this school from a different school."
"Shouldn't that have come first?" Jasmine asked Hazel.
"Please come in Mr Dimmadome." A young boy walks into the classroom. He wears a white hoodie and black pants. He also wears black shades and has orange spiky hair. Hazel looked appalled. The boy looked exactly like the cool boy in her dream.
"He's so cool!" Jasmine told Hazel.
"Why don't you tell the class your name?" Mr Guzman told him.
"My name is Dev Dimmadome... I'm the son of Dale Dimmadome... it's nice to meet you." Dev introduced himself in a cold tone. He then looked at Hazel.
