The next day, Jasmine went to visit Vi at the hospital. She sits on the chair next to the bed. She opens her backpack and grabs a CD. She gives the CD to her bedridden friend. VI's eyes widened in surprise as she held the CD.
"Jasmine! This is amazing! This one is out-of-print! How did you manage to find this one? They don't sell this online anymore..." Vi said in surprise.
"Are you serious? I saw this one on the way home the other day. So I had to buy it for you." Jasmine admitted.
"Thank you so much. You are a genius when it comes to finding rare CDs." Vi complimented her friend.
"I doubt it. I guess I'm just lucky." Jasmine told her. After hearing that, Vi opens the case and takes the CD out. She then inserts the CD in her CD player. "This artist's performance really is incredible. Do you want to listen too?" Vi asked her friend. She hands an earbud to her friend.
"Are you sure?" Jasmine asked her.
"I'd really like to have you hear it from the speakers, but we are in a hospital. I don't want to get in trouble." Vi answered truthfully.
Jasmine nods and puts the earbud into her ear. Vi turns on the music. The music is gentle and calming. Jasmine indulges in the gentle melody. She starts to remember a memory. She remembered watching her friend play on a violin at a concert a few years back.
Jasmine opens her eyes. She notices Vi quietly weeping beside her. She sees Vi's lifeless left arm at her bed. The surgery scars look appealing. Her fingers tremble in memory. She would never play her violin again. These dreadful thoughts make Jasmine's chest hurt.Later that day, Hazel and Jasmine watch Peri fight a familiar. He shoots the familiar with his gun. The familiar disappears, as well as the labyrinth. Peri transforms back into his civilian form.
"That's so amazing Peri!" Jasmine complimented him.
"This isn't a magic show. Don't forget what we are doing is dangerous." Peri warned Jasmine.
"Okay..." Jasmine said. She then noticed something odd. "It didn't drop a grief seed..."
"That's because it was a familiar that split off from a witch. They don't carry grief seeds." Irep told Jasmine.
"So it wasn't a witch..." Hazel pondered.
"We can't ignore the familiars though. If they are allowed to develop, they can become the same kind of witch they broke off from." Peri told them. "Anyway, we should head back."
The three start to walk in the direction of Hazel's and Peri's apartment building. Jasmine lived in that direction as well. Peri looks at Jasmine and Hazel. "So, have you two figured out what you want to wish for?" Peri asked the two girls.
"No, I haven't yet." Jasmine answered truthfully.
"I haven't either." Hazel added.
Peri smiles at his troubled pupils. "Well, I guess it is hard to think of something when you have time."
"Peri, what did you wish for?" Hazel asked him.
Peri looked gloomy after hearing Hazel's question. He stopped walking.
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." Hazel told him.
"Don't worry... I can tell you what my wish was..." Peri told her.
Peri remembers the car crash a few years back. He was 12 at the time. His parents, Cosmo and Wanda, were in the car. They were heading back from a restaurant that Peri liked. It was a celebration of him getting good grades. Unfortunately, it was pouring on the way home. Peri in the backseat watched Wanda lose control of the wheel and drive off the road. The car hit a tree and instantly, Peri's world was shattered. Both his parents had died from the impact. He was left alone. He was alive, but injured. Very injured. If he wasn't treated, he would die.
The 12 year old child closes his eyes, awaiting his death. But, before he could fully close his eyes, he saw an indigo creature looking upon him. "Please... save me... I want to live..." He said in pain. He passed out. An hour later, he woke up in a hospital. He noticed a purple soul gem in his hand, as well as the creature he saw. That was the first time Peri met Irep.
Peri looked at his pupils. He wanted to tell them everything. "I was in a car accident... Irep saved my life... I didn't have time to think about it. It's a shame my parents weren't saved, but I'm at least thankful that I get to have another chance." Peri lamented.
Hazel remembered what her mother told her a few days prior. About Peri's parents passing away. She concluded that Peri and her mother were telling the truth.
"How long have you been doing this for..?" Hazel asked him.
"About 4 years... I've been alone... for 4 years now..." Peri stated in a sad tone. "But... you two can think about what you truly want. I want you to have the opportunity that I never had."
"I have a question. Does the wish have to be for yourself?" Jasmine asked him. "Like, for example, there was someone you knew who was having a harder time than me... could I use my wish for them?"
"Whoever makes the contract doesn't necessarily have to be the target for the wish." Irep told Jasmine.
"I can't say I like this idea." Peri told her. "If you are going to grant a wish for someone else, then it is vital that you know what you are truly wishing for. Do you want their wish to come true, or do you want to be the person who made their wish come true?" Hazel panics in reaction to Peri's stern words. Jasmine stays silent in disappointment. "They might sound the same, but they are completely different."
"That's a harsh way of putting it." Jasmine told him.
"I'm sorry, but it has to be said before it is too late. If you went ahead without realizing that, I'm sure you would regret it later." Peri told her.
Jasmine continued to ponder in silence. After a moment, she takes a deep breath and nods. "You are right. I was being a little naive. Sorry about that." Jasmine apologized.
"This is pretty difficult to deal with, isn't it. I don't think you two should rush your decision." Peri told the two.
Hazel and Jasmine nod. Peri looks at them. "You two get home. I'm going to go to the store and buy myself something to drink."
Hazel and Jasmine say goodbye to Peri and leave him to do his thing. He decided to take a short cut to the store through the park. He suddenly stopped as he sensed something.
He saw Dev there. "You know you are putting innocent people in danger, picklebrained Peri!" Dev insulted him.
"Hazel and Jasmine have been chosen by Irep." Peri defended himself.
"You are leading them into becoming magical girls." Dev told him in an annoyed tone.
"It's their decision whether they want to become magical girls." Peri argued.
"Well, I don't like it. It is a nuisance. Especially in the case of Hazel!" Dev protested.
"I see. So you noticed her potential as well." Peri guessed.
"I cannot allow her to make a contract with Irep under any circumstances!" Dev exasperated.
"Is it because you're afraid of someone being stronger than you? That way of thinking is only for losers." Peri teased him.
Outraged, Dev closes his eyes briefly to regain his composure. "I don't want to fight you, but you leave me no choice." Dev warned Peri.
"In that case, it's best if we never meet again." Peri told him. Peri then left Dev.
