Not So Sweet

Chapter 6

POV Paige
We are all standing looking up at the stage listening to the head of the music department give her speech before we got paired up. My eyes keep gravitating towards Anabella but all I could see from here was the back of her head, and I noticed the Aria was now by her side.
"I am so excited to tell you guys who you are paired up with, we really hope this benefits both programs. Not only do we expect you guys to be there and help each other, we also expect you guys to show support of each others programs. So that mean basketball players will be coming to our performances and music students will be going to games. Without further ado I will now be naming who you will be paired with." Miss Smith said. All I could think about was how much I wanted to be paired with Anabella just so I had an excuse to be around her always. She gave off this warm welcoming energy that I was attracted to and I could already tell drew a lot of other people into her.
".. Ice and Aria, Aubrey and Devin, KK and Anabella" I let out a little groan but I was somewhat relieved because KK was one of my best friends and I know she will make her feel welcomed. "... and finally Paige and Ryan" hearing I was partners with Ryan made my body stiffen, I could barely look at him with out wanting to hurt him for the interaction I saw between him and Ana. But I have to put that aside because Geno is counting on is to make sure this merge of programs go smoothly.
"If you all could find your partners, we will be giving you guys time to talk and get to know each other before karaoke starts!!" Miss Smith says with a wide smile on her face. I do a 360 looking to find Ryan and I see him sitting at a table so I make my way over to him.
"Hey man, I'm Paige I guess we are paired up" I say as I dap him up.
"Hi Paige look I just want to say I'm sorry for earlier-" I cut him off
"Nah man it's none of my business I just wanted to make sure Anabella was alright" I say taking a seat across from him.
"Oh do you know her?" He asks
"No not really I had her in my group tour around campus, just looking out for her that's all" I say trying to sound indifferent.
"Hey P can we sit here?" KK asks as she points to the chair on the other end of the table. My eyes drift to Anabella she look like she'd rather be anywhere but here.
"Yeah, yeah no problem" I say motioning them to take a seat. Selfishly I wanted them to sit here so I could maybe hear or see what they were talking about.
Ryan and I get lost in a conversation about sports and what made him decide to transfer here.
"Before making my decision I was on a mini tour, I have an ep out and I was touring in the Midwest. I've always known I wanted to become a performer so when I got the call that they would love to have me I ask more about the program. They have different things you can emphasize like songwriting, production, and performance. You could focus on more than one but that's a lot of work, and I'm not interested or very good at songwriting or production so I just chose performance." Ryan dives into an explanation of this is the first program that has done something like this and he finds it fascinating. But I can't completely focus on his words because Anabella and KK seem to be having a great time. They haven't stopped talking this whole time, laughing and giggling like old friends. I glance over and see KK reach across the table and put her hand on top ok Ana's. For some reason that action made me feel some type of way. I can't really put my finger on the feeling but I try my hardest to suppress it.
"So Paige tell me about you're self" Ryan says I turn to him and start talking about myself. I hate to say it but the longer I spend talking with Ryan the more I see he's not an awful person.
