Y/N's POV

I'm sitting at my desk, the teacher is still teaching the lesson, but I'm barely paying attention. I check my watch. 3:50 PM. Almost time, I start packing my stuff, even though class isn't done yet. I'm not sticking around longer than I have to! The teacher shoots me an unhappy look.

"Y/N, class isn't over yet"

I keep packing my things, sliding my notebook into my bag "I have to catch the bus right after class, and it leaves pretty quick."

The teacher gives me a look, but she doesn't seem like she wants to argue. I glance back at my watch again, ready to get out as soon as the bell rings.

Just a few more minutes and I can get out of here. I don't even look at the board anymore. The teacher's voice becomes background noise as I plan out what to do next.

The first thing that appears into my head is the death note. I glance into my bag quickly, making sure its still there. I need to hide it somewhere safe, somewhere no one will ever find it. Or better yet, somewhere that if someone does find it, they will not be able to use it without getting hurt. I huff at the thought, more work for me to do.

RINNNGGGG!!!!!!

The bell snaps me back to reality. I jump up from my desk, shoving my chair in as I walk out of the classroom. Ugh, what a boring day. I wave goodbye to my classmates, I guess you could call them friends, or whatever.

"See you tomorrow Y/N!"

"Don't forget to send the homework in the group chat later!"

"Bye Y/N!"

I mumble a quick "Later, idiots." under my breath as I step outside. I can't help but admire the flowers blooming around the school. It's one of the few nice things about this place.

As I stroll along the path, my thoughts turn to the death note. I can't afford to get caught, the mission is too important. Just as I'm about to keep walking, a spark of an idea hits me. I pause thinking it over. I turn around to walk a different path. It's a bit risky, but maybe it's worth a shot.

"This is stupid, but I guess to throw people off I have to confuse myself too." I sigh, shaking my head. I carefully slide the death note under the false bottom then place an ordinary journal on top. With a key hanging in the lock, to make it seems like there's nothing to hide. Who would think to look twice at a simple journal sitting in a drawer? It's the perfect hiding spot or at least I hope it is.

I walk over to my bed and lay down with a sigh of relief. One task is done! and now it is time for the next one. I know exactly what I have to do: get rid of people who deserves it. I jump up and sit at my study desk, testing my hiding spot for the death note. It works perfectly. I smile for a moment, feeling proud of myself.

But then my smile fades. I know detectives would start looking into the Kira case, and I do NOT want that. They are obstacles in my way that I have to overcome. But I am not going to back down. Challenges only make things more interesting, right? After all, if it is easy, where would the fun be?

"I need to find a way to get rid of those who want to investigate about me."

The next day, I wake up early like always. I go through my morning routine, brushing my teeth, washing my face. With everything happening around since I'm Kira, I am very nervous. No, I need to stay focused and keep my head down.

"Good morning, Y/N!"

I nod and take my seat at the table, inhaling the delicious smell of scrambled eggs and bacon.

But then I notice her glancing at the newspaper, a worried expression on her face.

"The Kira case is really scary. Even if he only targets criminals, it's still terrifying! You need to be careful, Y/N."

"Of course, Mom," I reply, trying to reassure her. "I'll be careful."

I try to sound casual. "..I hope the police catch Kira soon."

I still have a few minutes before I gotta go, so I go back to my room. I glance at the drawer, making sure everything is still in place. I can't let anyone find out what I'm really up to. I have to act normal especially with those annoying detectives sniffing around.

I go to school normally and honestly, nothing exciting happens. Same boring classes, same old routine. My mind is focused on one thing: death note. When the bell finally rings, I immediately get out of the class. I find a bench and sit down, daydreaming. I think about all the possibilities, the people I could target, and the world I could help create. But my daydreaming is cut short.

"Y/N senpai!"

I turn to see a girl with black hair and dark grey eyes running toward me. She has a beauty mark below her left eye. I recognize her.

"Ah, Naomi chan. What are you doing here?" I ask.

Judging by her uniform, she's definitely a high schooler.

"I'm on my way to work!" she says, smiling. "But since I saw you here.. I wanted to thank you about the last time! How about we grab a coffee there..?"

I look at her with bored expression. I plan to head home soon, but I don't mind her company.

"Sure I guess that could be nice.." I say trying to sound enthusiastic. Its not that I dislike her, I just hope this doesn't turn into a long chat about her brother.

"Really?! Let's go~"

"So how's it going, Y/N senpai?"

"Good"

"Anything interesting happen today?"

"Not at all" I say drinking my favorite drink ( Your choice )

We are at Uzumaki Cafe, a reddish brown brick building. I think it's too tall for a cafe but I don't really care much.

As I daydream, Naomi suddenly brings up the topic that's been on everyone's mind. "Have you heard anything new about the Kira case?"

I turn to look at her, keeping my expression neutral. "I don't know much about Kira."

"Actually I'm working on Kira case right now!"

"Oh." I try to look excited, making it looks like I look forward onto it.

"Well, if you don't me asking how's the progress so far?"

"Well, we think Kira is a student or-"

I cut her off. "We?"

I raise an eyebrow "But how would you know that?"

"Well, I don't know much about it, but the victims usually die between 4 PM to midnight on weekdays.. It's just a theory though!"

After we chat for a while, I say my goodbye and go home. Now I know a bit about the investigation. They think I'm a student, not bad.. As I walk back, I think about the plans. I barely pay attention to my surroundings.

At that time, I didn't know I was being followed.
