Flying high above the city, I am headed towards the edge of the town. The meeting is at seven, but I wanted to be able to stake out the location for any traps or extra people. The Hero Commission was insistent that this mission could not wait, despite the timing. Stating that the League of Villians would not compromise on the day or time. Perks of being me, I guess. I just had to suffer through this one meeting. All I had to do was confess my need to join the LOV and attempt to gain their trust. Easy right?
Boy, was I wrong.... Very wrong.
I finally reached the location, an abandoned warehouse on the city's outskirts. There were few places to go, with a forest on one side and the red light district on the other. If this went south, I was screwed. My body was hotter than usual, while my hands shook from nerves. Sending out my feathers, I searched the area, sensing about 100 feet from the building and within the building. There was rubble and trash everywhere my feathers went within the building, and nothing but forest and more abandoned buildings surrounded the meeting spot.
When I recalled my feathers, one seemed to have been caught. I could feel that it was in someone's hand. How the hell did I not sense them? From the feather, I felt that they were alone and that they were inspecting it. What I did not expect was for them to begin to stroke the feather. My wings poofed due to the sudden action, causing my legs to become a bit weak. I shoved down this feeling and flew to meet the sudden arrival at the warehouse exit.
Reaching the person, I noted that it was Dabi, the person we had the least amount of intel on. Of course, the fire-quirked villain was chosen to come to this meeting. I landed in front of him swiftly, making him jump slightly. The feather he managed to catch was near his face as he inspected it with curious eyes, but he became still after I landed.
"You know it's rude to mess with someone else's quirk?"
His eyes narrowed as if taking in every aspect of my appearance. Whether it be for weaknesses or signs of betrayal, I was unsure. I stayed silent as he inspected me, not daring to make it worse than it might already be. I was already on high alert due to my quirk perks; lucky me.
"Why are you betatrying the heroes?"
I chuckled a little, whether it was from nerves or to ease my anxieties. "Right to the point, huh?"
The fire user twirled my feather impatiently, causing it to brush against his clothes a bit, making me involuntarily shiver. "Just answer the damn question, Birdy."
I tried to brush off what he was doing with my feather, but as he spoke, he stepped closer. His smell began to invade my senses, the smell of burning campfire and pine trees. It was setting something in me on fire. Fuck, not now!
"Um, well, they haven't been treating me right since they took me in as a kid." I began to walk backward, oblivious to his growing smirk. "I-I also agree that the s-system is corrupt and needs to be fixed, c-considering I was taken in to be a h-hero soldier." My back was reaching the warehouse, nearly to where I would be cornered against the wall near the entrance. That was when I finally took in the situation. Not only was his scent driving my bird instincts wild, but he had also brought my feather towards his face so that I could feel his hot breath against it.
Fuck! Did he figure out my patterns? This was top-secret information!?! How the hell did the LOV get ahold of it, let alone know when precisely to target me?!?
"Why are you doing that with my feather? I mean, we are here for a reason. Why don't we just chat, and then we can get back to what needs to be done? I have some paperwork back at the agenCY!"
My back had finally run into the wall. Dabi wasted no time, leaning over my short frame with his elbow by my head.
"You're rambling there, Birdy. What? Are you nervous for some reason?"
